I wonder if the cop walks away a free man. Precedence says he will. Nothing will change. Not until cops are no longer above the law, as they currently seem to be.

You guys are kind of leaving a bit of context out of this. The US most definitely does have a lot more killings performed by cops than other major countries- That's for sure. But you have to remember we also have arguably more crime too. Due to relatively lax gun laws and the banning of drugs creating a huge drug trade also bringing us the highest homicide rate. We've got high incarceration due to minor crimes being pushed too far into prison. And etc.

I can't say that the number of killings in the US aren't really crazy high comparitively. But I just have to point out the impact so much organized crime seems to cause these issues. Similar to the mob during prohibition.

The police isn't exactly sending the message that black lives matter.

Besides, just because one problem exists doesn't excuse it from treating other problems. The universe is indifferent, nothing matters, let's all roll over and die right? Well it doesn't work that way. It's understandable that with high homicide rates (which obviously need their own solution) the black population feels like the cops should help them, and not be an enemy. Which again, not the message they're sending.

Literally never said it wasnt wrong that these people are getting killed for no reason. Please stop your assumptions.

Unarmed people being killed without a real explanation is of course totally wrong. I'm baffled at the most recent shooting. I'm understanding with some (pointing replica weapon at an officer for example) but what's happened as of late is wrong.

Just because I bring up reasons why this is happening to some extent doesn't mean I'm excusing it.

Edit: And obviously I know you said police are killing people, but how many who are killed have weapons on hand? Because then of course lethal force can be necessary. (But really hopefully not what ends up happening!!)

The really bad cops and really bad mistakes are the ones showed on the news. These events happen to blacks the most for reasons other than racism.

the statistics are so blatantly against you there. you gotta admit there's something wrong with the stats.

Only because it happens black people commit more crime, because they're more often brought up in poorer areas with a lot of crime in an atmosphere that promotes crime through music and just general upbringing.

Many people aren't being killed due to their race- They're being killed because they have a weapon and are committing a crime. And they're not committing crime because of their race but sadly due to their terrible situation.

Reasons why America needs better treatment of our poor communities, better education systems, open Healthcare and support from therapists, etc. As well as reform on the drug situation, and gun control.

Blacks are also three times as impoverished on average as non-hispanic whites.


So this goes back to ending the cycle of poverty that's the root of all this.

Yep! Which is something I'm all about. Was really backing Bernie hard and was depressed to see our current options win out.

I'd rather not discuss the other reasons in-depth because it will make me look racist. Just google "race iq gap": it's certainly a controversial topic but the studies are very much the opposite of anecdotal.
