Both Valve and the developers of the respective games get a cut of the market transactions, on top of getting the money again by having me buy games with the credit. I doubt they'll ban me for printing them money. I'm just hoping to grind up enough credit for Enter the Gungeon. EDIT: I've gotten round 35 cards so far in a bit over a day.
Dark Souls Board Game Kickstarter is out. I'd consider backing it just for mechanics inspiration for my next tabletop project if I had the money. I still might sell some stuff for it.
New Humble Bundle has some Devolver Digital stuff. Not a Hero is pretty neat, 10/10 on the British accents. No Hotline Miami or Enter the Gungeon though . I wanna enter a gungeon so bad...
But why would I ever buy... ANY game at full price when I KNOW it's going to be pretty heavily discounted sooner or later. I mean... I've always wanted to get Not a Hero. And now I got it for $4.00
Because constant sales contribute to the ongoing perception of game value as a decreasing metric, which incentivises the business owner to do more and more stuff to make that game sell for more (DLC, microtransactions, timers, pay for power, companion apps, you name it). I'm not saying you're a terrible person and you should feel bad. Not at all! But that maybe sometimes paying full price for a game you're going to like and want to support is worth it. Especially considering even Steam does refunds these days.
Wow now I just feel terrible. Er... NORTHERNLIONMADEASERIESEVERONELIKESITOKWE'REGOOD Sale purchase: JUSTIFIED.
I caved in. I bought Gungeon at a mere 10% off. Do you know what this means? IT MEANS IF SLIME RANCHER GOES ON SALE WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK OR SO LIKE I KNOW IT WILL YOU OWE ME DEM SLIMES.
Oh look a trailer and no gameplay ... yea, i learned my lesson on this one long ago ... also ... seriously ... battlefield 1? how many battlefields have there been already? and they go with that? because it's world war one? uhhhh ... companies and their titlechoices ... sometimes i just can't even .... .... sigh ... but yea ... gameplay first then eventual hype ... I sure am intrested on this one !
WWI is a unique setting, and I genuinely like Battlefield's multiplayer, so I'm interested. If they don't make the same mistakes they did with BF4, I'm all for it.
Fun fact: There has never been a game called "Battlefield" or "Battlefield 1" before now. Battlefield ONE takes place during World War ONE. So... Why is everyone annoyed about this again? This isn't like Doom or Tomb Raider. there is literally NO OVERLAP WITH PREVIOUS TITLES.
