Usually, I can place the umbrella outside the weapon range of enemy anchor to take it out.
But for some tiny planets, I am unable to do this.
    This lets me wonder.
What's the shape of weapon range?

I can see the weapon range and the radar range are circles under the ground.
But what's its real shape in 3D space?

I am not sure, but I think the shape of weapon range is not a cylinder.
    Is it a sphere?
Or it is a cone, and the vertex of the cone is the center of the planet.

I think it's a capsule if I remember correctly. See also this post: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/circle-vision-vs-real-range-pelter-and-radar.57411/#post-892505

The range of radar is a capsule.
And the shape is a fix distance to a line which goes from ground to the orbital layer.

But I am not sure it is changed or not.
The developers said they want to fix it.

Remember though the capsule is not relative to a flat surface, it is wrapped around a round planets surface - which has quite a dramatic curvature on small planets.
