http://store.steampowered.com/app/281610/ http://www.desertsofkharak.com/ What do you guys think. I have no clue what to expect from that gameplay/movie footage. But if it can capture the spirit from homeworld it could be a lot of fun.
WHAT DO I THINK ? : OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!OMG!!! and : "wasn't one name-change enough for them?"
It looks incredible, and the fact that it's made by some of the Homeworld developers is a VERY good sign... Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, the fact that we know so little has me worried. I mean we're 4 weeks away from its launch and all we know is that it's an RTS that looks like it's combining SupCom with the Homeworld universe. Don't get me wrong, I'm really looking forward to it. I just wish we'd get a little transparency from Gearbox beyond a trailer that, honestly is nothing more than eye-candy clearly made for the sake of marketing and not much else.
from the videos it definitely looks like sim pro is back in there. homeworld to me was always part of the TA familly because of the scale and the simpro ...and well just about everything that defines that familly. Flow-based economy; converting reclaiming ect ect ect. preordered btw.
Looking for a new rts and feel this could be the one for me. Would be nice to learn it with some friendly faces too.
I like that the devs are bringing their industry experience forward with this. You can tell that even the marketing has been setup on purpose like this. A bunch of good folk, that. Was privy to the original version of this product, don't have the money to pre-order but will be interesting to see how they've made it Homeworld-esque.
As much as I loathe IGN, they have a good vid up showing a nice amount of proper gameplay. Needless to say the game is looking very very promising. Looks very Homeworld esque.
I'm skeptical, but the devs are trailblazing their own path here, and I hope it's as fresh as the first homeworld. Gameplay looks solid but only time will tell.
The only thing I dislike about this game, and really the homeworld series in general, is how little base building there is. My favourite RTS games have a lot- TA, PA, SC, and even the CnC games. Except the fact there's little to no base building.
I don't quite know how to explain it but homeworld makes it not count and somehow compensates so well in the other departments for it not to matter and there is a sort of basebuilding there definitely is economy. you have to build on you ships and chose the adapted tech branch
