How do you deal with loudness issues in premier when you throw in many clips with uneven volume? Does it have compressors/limiters that you need to tune? or something like fade-in envelopes that you need to tune? or does it just do magic?
I mean, the sound in your videos is pretty good to my noon ear. So I wonder if that takes a ton of work, or just a metric ton of work?

at the time of this post, it said leo, ykcyc and me are the only people online. 30 guests, but 40 bots. We are the minority.. in fact it looks like we outlived everything.

I'm always logged in when I'm at work, so I can channel output of my boiling brain to a medium that won't get me fired.

I used to just check the dB meter, make sure it was at an even -18dB.


Premiere has the average volume control per clip controls.


On the volume thingy, you can make volume adjustments (If only one second is loud and you don't want to adjust the whole thing) with keyframes.


There are a bunch of audio plugins you can use in Premiere: compressors, EQ, panning, **** like that.


I tend to use Digital Performer for stuff like that though.

Gotcha. Thanks for the details. That adjustment at key frames is what I call envelopes, I imagine that's a pretty important but time-consuming tool. Yeah, the Digital Performer interface looks like what I'm used to in Sonar. I'm just beginning to learn how to deal with loudness (use compressor in particular). I haven't paid attention to that stuff before... I was curious about video production cause I imagine it's harder to deal with a bunch of completely diverse clips rather than just a handful of instrument tracks. Also, you probably always want to look at your video timeline.

Idk, you can do a lot of those with simple EQ on Reaper.
