Could you at least provide a quote with each link so i know what i'm going to look at? because i kind of hate clickbait-style threads.

Thanks for that link, i had a good laugh. You could tell people the earth is hollow and nazis are inside and they'd believe it. Wait, is that an actual conspiracy theory? yes it is. Mind blown again.

What if, *gasp*, its actually a debris field in stead of a dyson sphere?

Really, this is FTL neutrinos all over again.

There's probably a less interesting explanation than aliens but they ruled out debris fields because if that were the case in order to have enough density to block as much as 20% of the light a planet must've recently cracked apart. And that should result in a lot of dust. And that dust should absorb sunlight and re-emit infrared. But they haven't detected an infrared glow. Which means no dust. Which means debris field hypothesis ain't so strong.

Wait a second, isn't this thing 1500 light years away from little old Earth? Doesn't that mean what we're seeing happened 1500 years ago?
Even if it is a Dyson Sphere, it could've been abandoned, or the species in it could be extinct, or hell, maybe they moved to another galaxy!

For all we know, that was a station meant to find life in the Milky Way, but they attempted communication while we were still in the bronze age! WE COULD'VE MISSED THE ALIENS.

Or we didn't because light has been slowing down since the beginning of time and they're still out there watching us as if we were amusing ants.

I haven't done warp speed calculations in a long time but if I remember correctly, a typeII civ would not consider 1500 light years to be all that far away. It's actually quite close lol.

    Relatively, of course.

Hell, a type I civ with warp technology would consider 1500 ly a small distance.

Well, considering we are seeing them now, it would probably be the case that if they are gone, they will miss our response, but we will not miss their messages because it is only arriving now :)

Light has been slowing down? Citation needed.

Oh and guys, 1500 years is friggin' NOTHING in astronomy. Even if it is an alien Dyson structure, it probably just means they've finished building it.

Gotta find the book on it. It was by a creationist I believe.

It's actually a well-accepted phenomenon, but they are still arguing over exactly why it's happening and how fast.

I haven't heard anything about this, beyond an alternate interpretation of cosmic inflation (is spacetime expanding or is c getting smaller), but IIRC there are some problems with that interpretation.
