So, I have not been on here in a while, been playing destiny and eagerly awaiting Halo 5. Now, I love video games, and something I have throwing around is to try concept arting. I am an artist, I draw alot, but I am curious how it works, do artist still use paper and pencil, or do they use computer software? I was wonder as things like the PA commander concept art, and all other CA seem to have a similar rough look in style, so I was wonder how that works. Thanks!
as an example from PA uber used a number of drawings and conceptpictures which all however were realy rough .. the main work of the conceptart went into the kickstartervideo .. so i supose that would be one way however artwise i see a number of people using pencil first for the lineart then however go into digital if we are talking pure pictures .. i think it will ultimately come down to what you will be more comfortable with ... so the answer would be digital deffinitively is the way to go however pen and paper is not dead because of it ...
You could also get into background art, consider Halo's oil painting-esque backgrounds for example. They've always been my favourite.
Halo is a strong influence I will say that, but I am mainly thinking of the things like armor concepts and well, commander concepts. I am very into the sci-fi type stuff like Halo and Star Wars. But I also enjoy the cartoonish, clean, smooth style of 3D, that is what got me into PA.
