Now I know map design is something a lot of people really enjoy for PA but I need to be that guy that says something for just basic game play.... this is ridiculous For anyone who wants to know that is a 4 min IRL travel time (Without in game lag)
Pretty crazy and while I can understand that some people enjoy slower more thought out games involving large systems, something like that is just overkill. Especially considering how orbital sneak attacks would be redundant with the travel time and everyone seeing it coming.
Yes but in the 2 hrs I have made this post I have come across 4 other like it, now I know that isn't to bad....I just happened to combo them all as one long, horrid match. I would just like a system size limit or something that will indicate this is a large map..
Only if the game slows down. Which it does for me . Like past 3 thousand units and the game kinda grinds to a halt. Still... it is funny to swat enemy zeus out of the sky with 500 spinners and fighters, because casualties don't matter once you have over 40 factories .
Imho the first problem that I see is that I don't see anything. The planets and blue lines are sooo tiny and hard to make out when zoomed out like that. That's the more important issue, everything else: Blame the map designer really.
That is true but my concern is that no one will really stop, unless there is ether an orbital speed increase or s size reduction we will still have 12 min travel times and that is really my biggest pain.
So just do not join such a game? I guess one more issue: The size of the system needs to be visible in lobby. Not sure how far that has gotten.
Fully agree with you. The system information in game is insufficient. Player can only see the radius of planet, but they can't see the radius of the planetary orbit. So the player can only how large the planets are, but they are unable to estimate the traveling time between planets. The distance from planet to the sun may not be a constant since the planetary orbit can be an ellipse rather than a circle. But I think the game should show at least the max distance from planet to sun. By the way, the radius of planet can only be seen in the lobby. Once a player enters a game room, he/she can never see the radius the each planet. If the host changes the system, players in room can't know the sizes of planets.
