I was playing on a 6-10 player map againt 3 absurd AI. I was about to blow the planet they were on thanks to the giant laser of the metal planet but the game decided to crash :/ Hours of epicness and waiting reduced to that! Damn! Is there a way to be sure it doesn't happen again?
Can you please elaborate on what happened? There are two types of crash- client, (which would be crash to desktop) and server (which would result in a connection lost error but would leave you in game still). The first could be a config problem your end, or a bug. The latter is probably on ubers end unless you were hosting locally. Either way. Details of exactly what was happening just before the crash are helpful to try and nail down the cause, as are any crash logs.
I remember it was not a crash to desktop. I was playing single player and there was a screen saying "Ending simulation" or something like this (very odd). I couldn't get any error numbers or crash logs :/
I got that when I was playing an AI match and using local server when nuking an enemies commander using the Helios + Manhattan.
Hmm if your playing local server, there should be a log file created for the game on your machine that might have some info on what happened just before the crash. @DeathByDenim can probably help you find where the logs get put as I can't remember.
The server logs are here: Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation (Just copy-paste this in the address bar of Explorer) OSX: ~/Library/Application Support/Uber Entertainment/Planetary Annihilation Linux: ~/.local/Uber Entertainment/Planetary Annihilation
Here is the log! By the way, I noticed I was playing in 1680*720 (or something like this) but there are no setting to change it. Can I change it to 1280*720?
Could you also post the server log? Those are the text files that start with server-2015-.... They live in the directory is posted and not in the log subdirectory for some reason. And you can't change the resolution of the game, as PA uses a borderless window. You can however change "Resolution Scaling" under Settings -> Graphics.
And voilà the log my mage friend So if I want the game to be more performant, I select the scaling to be less than a 100% ?
Well, that was indeed a server crash: http://crashes.uberent.com/report/index/bp-161d24a9-a067-4c61-8fa3-def5a2150830 Looks like a crash in the pathing algorithm. Not much you can do about that, I think. That's something for Uber to fix by the looks of it. But these server crashes automatically get uploaded to Uber, so they'll probably fix it. Is there a specific action you performed that caused the crash? Like did the game stop precisely when the Catalysts were done or did you just press the annihilate button?
