I wonder so at first, but it doesn't really fit, Trine 3, sadly, might never be fixed. While it might be proudness and a bit obstinacy to take PAs release as a 'of course we'll fix that stuff, matter of honor and so', they did actually deliver. It was 10 months of constant updates following.

That's not saying Uber might have reacted better, or that they maybe were more optimistic than they should have been (sad thing to write). It's probably just not that kind of thing they need.
Seriously, it's as if you need diplomats to make a game. Guess it's normally the publisher's role to protect the devs.

Btw: Ofc course regarding the release condition. About the free copies? I'd say there isn't even any answer than can solve the critics feelings, nor do they deserve one.
Then again, some brighter or wiser than me has probably a better, more diplomatic way to deal with those situations. Still not as valid as Trines state.

Kudos to Frozenbyte tho, that had to take a lot of guts. And honestly, personally I'd be content with that honest answer.

I don't think Uber needs to say they are sorry for anything. Really, to me people create a storm over a glass of water.

It would probably go something like this:
We're sorry for being generous and gifting free copies of PA: Titans to Kickstarter backers. It's unfortunate that this decision exasperated the EA backers into creating a hate mob.

I swear to the LORD ALMIGHTY, Planktum. Quit spreading the entitled BS that's been running around here lately. It's not legitimate, it's unnecessary, and it's completely unacceptable. The arguments coming from that hate mob are not rational and spew entitled socialist BS all over the internet. Please stop posting this stuff here. It's not helping anything. Uber has done nothing wrong, and they shouldn't be blamed for folks getting offended.

Thanks for the hit and run but please, give us a little more information about your opinion.

I mean yea uber could release a video like frozenbyte saying "we're sorry our profits evaporated" and "we're sorry that we're getting all this bad publicity" but I'm not sure how that would help anyone.

As far as we know their funds didn't get evaporated. They actually did say they've got enough money to develope the game for at least a few months after release, and then followed up with continued updating up to this day.

Small note, you'd say sorry for doing something that leads to bad publicity, not for receiving bad publicity. ;)

that would actually be provocative ergo. super duper bad. I think the current stance of waiting till the storm subsides is the correct one.

I dunno trine 3, but from wikipedia it seems the are basically saying: "Sorry that the 3rd game we made in our franchise was not good enough for you".

I don't even get why they would need to apologize. Their business seems to be in risk due to this and the internet mob seems to demand an apology for that? Why? Isn't failing financially bad enough? Should not actual supporters of the first trine game show support for the developer instead? "You can do it" (Hoping for a better trine 4)

Yeah, I'd say it helped. I don't imagine that anybody who was already angry with the game was soothed by the apology. I agree that Uber is better off riding out the storm instead of giving it information to misinterpret and keep the unrest well fed.
