For some reason, whenever I save a game (AI Skirmish), it takes a while. However, that's not the real issue. It's when I quit to the main menu after saving the game for later. For some reason, whenever I quit the game, my commander blows up because the game thinks I've surrendered. I did not intend to surrender. Something just came up that needed my attention and so I intended to quit my game. Unfortunately, my commander blows up and I lose the game I was playing. Then, for some stupid reason, my saved game is deleted. Is there any way to separate quitting and surrendering so when something comes up while I'm playing, I won't be forced to give the game away to the AI? Please help me out. I have it on Mac OSX Yosemite.
Interesting. First I've heard of this behavior. I'm going to move this to support forum to see if anyone else chimes in on seeing it. For clarification, you did AI skirmish, you saved your game, selected "quit", then clicked "Single Player" and saw no "Resume Last Saved" nor anything under "Saved Games"?
That's what happens as well as the game thinking I've surrendered instead of quitting to the main menu. It started happening with the last update.
It may sound odd, but the commander is supposed to blow up on quitting. It's sort of a left-over from multi-player games, where quitting means surrendering. It should most definitely not delete your save game though. So first question: Is the behaviour the same when you save with the local server on and off? You can find that setting in Settings -> Server. Turning the local server off means you need to be connected to the internet though. Second question: When you save the game (but before quitting), can you check "~/Library/Application Support/Uber Entertainment/Planetary Annihilation" (where ~ is your home directory). Does it appear there? Then when you quit, does it disappear? This only applies if you have the local server on. Also, you don't happen to have ran out of disk space, eh?
When I try to go to the Planetary Annihilation directory to check for my saved game, Uber Entertainment isn't listed in my Application Support directory. Is this related to the problem I'm having?
I have plenty of space on my hard drive. It says I have 253.48 GB free. I haven't tried the local server off deal yet.
It may just be hidden. In finder there should be a menu option "Go" -> "Go to folder..." or something like that. You can copy-paste the location "~/Library/Application Support/Uber Entertainment/Planetary Annihilation" in there.
My saved game still appears in the Planetary Annihilation folder, but not on the main menu. I saved it as KoHn and two files popped up: 1. KoHn.par.gz 2. KoHn.par.info.json
Ah, so it saves, but it just doesn't show up Single Player -> Saved Games. Could you go to "~/Library/Application Support/Uber Entertainment/Planetary Annihilation/log"? There will be a bunch of PA logs there. You can just delete them all. Then start PA, go to Single Player -> Saved Games and confirm that you indeed do no see any saved games there. Then close PA and upload the newly created log file here using the "Upload a File" button on this forum. Also try running PA with --nomods just in case.
This happens to me as well, when ever I save a game and then quit, Aeson blows up and the game does not show up in the saved games menu. I thought it was only me. you were right Jables, others would appear, except I found this thread through a Google robot.
Could you try the same procedure as I outlined in my post above yours? If you are not on Mac, the other OSes store the logs here: Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation\log (Just copy-paste that in the address bar of Explorer) Linux: ~/.local/Uber Entertainment/Planetary Annihilation/log
oh heh heh, I forgot about that, I actually read that post last night, but I completely forgot about that part today. hmm... ok I will delete them and see what happens. I can delete the ones that say server as well yes?
Unless there is a JS error, the problem won't appear in the logs (you should still post a log if possible). I am adding more log statements to detect the error. These changes should go out in the next PTE.
