so, this as been happening for the last 2 mouths when ever I play PA. when I get to the later game with more units ans the AI having more units, the game starts to do small freezes. It is not due to frame-rate or lag as the animations still run smoothly when everything freezes. it then gets to a point where the game becomes unplayable because of how much it is freezing and unfreezing, I can barely control my units. I checked my bandwidth today and it seems to run at 10 pings ms. I don't know if that is affected wen PA is running, but when PA is turned on, and the game gets to a later stage, the game just gets slow. I am think of holding on titans until I can figure out how to fix it as I think titans may suffer from the same issue and may affect my enjoyment as it has done to PA itself. I love this game, so if anyone know a way I could fix it or check my ping in game, it would be very helpful. Thanks!
This is usually caused by a program called GameFirst III. Could you check if you have that and get rid of it?
where would I check for this? in the start menu of my laptop of appdata? EDIT: I do not appear to have this program. I remember getting something called GmaeFirst anyways.
It comes preinstalled with Asus computers. It's just one of those crapware things. Next time it happens, can you press <Ctrl>+P? Every time you press that key combo, it will show you different statistics. I'm interested in what you get for the server fps and the sim fps. (edit: Fixed quotation)
Oh, In that quote I meant never remember getting Gamefirst. I don not have or ever got said program, sorry about the confusion if there was any. typo on my part.
ok, so as of now, a usual game rocks a solid 1.0fps for server and 10 to 9 fps for sim. the game I just played was on the same planet and amount of "players" me and 3 Ai, as last night when the freezes last happened. The game was pretty smooth for about 99% of the time, only when a launched a nuke did it freeze for a split second, barely noticeable. Could it be my resolution? Unlike last night where the res was at 100% today I set it to 75%. I was actually surprised how fast PA loaded up today when I first launched the game. It was amazing.
Well, setting the res to 75% would speed up things, but only graphics stuff. It would influence the client fps. But you said the animations were smooth even though the game was lagging, right?
yes, when it freezes Doxs will still be running it place, engines of air units will still shoot flames out the back, and commanders and fabbers still shoot out that liquid stuff used to build if building at that moment at a constant pace of what ever percent your economy is at.
Yeah, that kind of lag it caused by network lag. Your internet connection itself may be ok. It could just be your route to the Uber servers. That sort of thing usually goes away on its own. You don't have this when you play GW or AI skirmish (with the local server turned on), right?
actually I am experiencing this when playing Ai skirmish. I don't play MM to often, but I am logged into my playfab and online when playing an Ai battle, so I am connected to Uber. I have not played Gw yet, so I don't know there. I brought this up a while back as I was experiencing the problem then as well. it seemed to be server issues. But it was not like this when I first got it.
And is that with the local server on or off? (See Settings -> Server) Does it make a difference between on and off?
ok, so reporting back about the local server thing since I did not have time to play the game yesterday. It seems to work just fine, nothing was wrong, that I could see. it ran pretty smooth. Could it be that I set it to off? When I first got the game it was set to Auto.
well, I must assume that it was set to auto for my CPU as I have 8 gb. but the other thing is, this problem seems to have "passed" I guess, I have not experienced it for the past day or so. I am still watching it. My wireless was reset yesterday so maybe that helped.
Oh yeah, the Wi-Fi reset could definitely have helped. My previous router always nearly had a stroke when I played PA over wireless. PA is quite demanding for those poor little routers.
Ya, and while the freezes can be annoying, it is kind of funny when I look back around time I got the game. People were saying not even the best of gaming computers could handle the game, and my laptop, not being the greatest computer handles it just fine. actually better then it handles Minecraft.
