In a game named planetary annihilation, explosions are important, it's about blowing planets up, it's in the title!!!
It's like Stronghold was a cooking simulator, Civilization was a dollhouse, Train simulator was about murdering people with a giant dildo, etc...

But I agree what this game really need is to be finished, for real...

For the new content, if it's released in DLC (on steam), I don't care, I will buy it, if it was not something promised for the game release which was 10 month ago...
Because this is a really awesome game, but unfinished yet!!!

It was promised ten months ago. Hell, it was "promised* two years ago.

At some point one must stop being too much naïve and start leaving in the real world.
More than two years ago, do you really think Uber could afford not to overpromise ? Do you really think the kickstarter would have been a success if Uber had not over promised ? It's some kind of rule you must accept : You trust Uber team and you believe they can bring onto the table a very nice RTS with lots of exciting features. But you must also keep in mind that this is the advertisment (marketting process) and that there could be a gap between what is "promised" and what's finally delivered. As far as i'm concerned, i understand the word "promised" as "We promise we believe we can do it and we'll put all our efforts in order to achieve our commitments". My 2 cents no other game studio would have been able to bring this game in its current state with such a (relative) small budget. We're talking about a complex game from a technical perspective. And we are talking about a game genre that will hardly find someone to invest millions of dollars. So here we are : there are missing features we all would like to have in this game. But if you consider the global game state, we have something very solid. And in addition we have people working on this game since the very beginning of official launch. Let's compare the game as it was when it came out and how it is now. Uber never stopped improving the game, but it's easy to forget what has been done over time. Just as a few examples : Local server, save/load feature at any time in the chronotime, and lots of others. It just takes time and money. While lots of editors would have stopped to support their unfinished/bugged game, Uber keeps moving forward. There are tradeoff in this business world, and what Uber has achieved so far is just incredible.

Bro, they've done a great job. I'm trying to tone down the expectations a bit here. The game's in a better state, but it can be improved upon. Slow it down. Lol. It's PA, not the next Space treaty or rocket engine.

I'm looking forward to the overhaul of the planet smashing mechanics so that we no longer get things like this...

That's not what he was talking about.

Why is the moon colliding with the gas giant?

Well that's another issue yes, but the effect quality is what really looks bad to me.

That was not specifically directed to you ;)
Yes the game can be improved, and looking back at all the PTEs that have been released since official launch it's just telling me Uber really wants to improve the game. Now, also looking back at how they have iterated since very first alpha, it has always been slow. I was also thinking that we would never get something solid if the development was so slow. But i was wrong. So, putting aside the frustration of not seeing expected features coming quickly, i feel confident that at some point we'll get the improvements we're waiting for. It's just a matter of time. And there's also something not to forget : When you start such a project, you have to make critical technical choices. You have no garantee that at some point the choices you made are not going to prevent you from implementing what you really wanted to implement in the very first place. You're just relying on your own large experience to make the best possible choices. Even industry veterans can't anticipate all the possible drawbacks related to the technical choices they did. Especially with such a complex game. If they had tried to anticipate all the pros and cons they would still be thinking about how to build PA :). The result is that we have a solid game, possibly constrained by original technical choices when it comes to implement specific new features. It's unfortunate, but you have to live with it.

@neutrino has always been clear about his game vision : PA is for the fans. So PA is meant to be improved over months, years. but because it's for fans, from a business perspective you can't allocate the same amount of resources as if you were about to generate tons of cash. It's for fans, so yes, they keep improving it over time (And frankly this is to me the most important promise they have done, and proving it right so far) , but with a reasonable sized team. It's the tradeoff. We won't see improvements coming fast. And i'm happy with that, because the other alternative would be to stop PA support.

my biggest gripe is that equal mass planets still disappear completely when they hit each other, with zero effects at all

Are they going to add more units and ways to wage war ? I think this is more important to the actual gameplay than the planet smashing stuff. Also get better sounds effects and visuals....

Most people don't even know how to use all of the current unit roster. Of course a few more units would be nice, but I'm still happy with what we have and I don't think we are going to be getting any more units to be honest.

A bit more contrast between unit sizes would be nice. And I do wonder why a Grenadier is bigger than a Bolo. Tanks should be bigger in size if you ask me.

Install the Pew Pew mod if you want better visuals.

Yeah considering the asteroids will have zero difference from existing mechanics, the development time already feels wasted. It would be better to invest more time in the areas you mentioned and terrain overhauls.

Visually the game is still very underwhelming.

A new coat of paint, even if not considered to be that important, still makes every little thing much better.

Most of the games effects are basically place holders, that were never removed.

Everything costs money, server upgrades or visual upgrades.
