Spring is a modern remake of the TA engine. It is also able to read the TA files.

But many other games have also been developed for that engine that do not require the original files.

You so have to give Spring a go!!!!!! I moved to it when people stopped playing TA. The two games I think you'll get on with most is 'Balanced Annihilation' (has the original TA unit set with a few additions and a moderately quicker pacing, though it's still slower paced than PA) or if you want to go really oldskool 'XTA' (this is almost pure TA, and has TA pacing etc, although there are a few additional units and so on).

Of the two, I personally rate BA the highest, it strikes a nice balance between pacing, unit micro and macro game play, and can lead to some ridiculous over the top battles (there are regular 8 v 8 games held).

Some words of warning- there is no single player (aside from AI Skirmish), there's also no tutorial beside the wiki and the lobby system (SpringLobby) is kinda 'bare bones'. If you can get past that the actual game is superb, and if you know TA the basics should all be familiar enough to get started. Also BA and XTA *retain all the commander abilities* including cloak and the dreaded d-gun :)

Oh, I know the ropes and stuff. I had it for a while on my old computer. It was just a means of playing it with my dad, but he got pissed off because of the right click controls. So I got very little play on it.

I'll start a thread in unrelated discussion. We need to make a group and play some TA Spring yo.
