I'm running PA from steam in ubuntu 14.04. The game is pretty much unplayable for me, I used to get random lockups where the UI would freeze and I couldn't select any units, but I could still kind of scroll the map. The only thing I could do to fix this was close and reconnect.

I just updated today to build 80187 and the problem is slightly different, but worse. It will freeze and I won't be able to select anything, but then when I close PA and reconnect to the game I can't see any units until the game is over.

I run the game from steam with the --software-ui flag. I've got an AMD HD6850 graphics card using proprietry drivers.

Any help with this would be awesome!

That is a known bug for all users, @masterdigital has confirmed he can reproduce it and it will be fixed shortly.

I have submitted a fix, though I don't know when we will patch. Until then, you can fix the issue by using the coherent debugger and entering the command:
    model.visionSelectAll()
    in the live game panel.

    Hello @masterdigital ,

I have just tested the fix, it works fine. Is there a way to do something similar with the debugger to fix the issue : "PA#4360 - UI randomly freezes when mousing over build menus" ?
I mean maybe something to restart the ui or reload it instead of closing it and reconnect.

    Best regards.

Sorry to bring up this old stuff:
but for me the cursor is missing WITH --software-ui

So I have to "accept" those crashes because I can`t play without a cursor.

Another issue I wanted to ring up again is PA#4277.

This is really annoying when you try to place buildings and nothing happens. The bug report is still marked as "new".
I (and probably more linux users) would highly appreciate a fix, work on that issue or a call for help/debug messages/logs/ whatever to help solve this issue.

This one is some kind of Nvidia-related issue so I can't really debug it.
Though I suppose all these issues with missing cursors, glitches are related to same buggy code.

    I can't believe that :D

What can I do to help sort this out?

PS: I have a nvidia card

Sadly I have no idea, may be only ask Coherent guys to fix it. :)
At least UI crash is on their side, but there is no way to capture any useful crash dump on your side.

I tried playing with the --coherent-allow-minidump option for PA and I managed to get the UI to hang, but it wouldn't create a dump. I think Coherent doesn't actually crash, it just stop responding to input. I ran PA with
    Code:
    ./PA --coherent-allow-minidumps --coherent-log-level DEBUG
And the last I have in the log before the UI stopped responding is:
    Code:
[07:58:15.051] INFO [COUI] Sending resize command for view 18 with new size 183x380

This was after I had assigned factories and fabbers to various control groups so I could quickly switch between them while mousing over the build menu. Hence all the resize statements, I guess. I didn't create a minidump though, which according to the log should have appeared in the host directory inside the PA install dir.

    Upon closing PA, I get
    Code:

So that seems to indicate that Coherent did not crash after all. Just not responding...

Maybe @billyv from Coherent has any ideas as to what might be going on?

That minidump option is something I should add to my PA, as my coherent does crash once every while.

Currently investigating this. Is anyone able to use the new "save game" functionality when reproducing this, and sending me the lobby id (or save file, if a local game)?

I believe that their crash dumps only work on Windows. :( (reference: http://coherent-labs.com/Documentat...ttings.html#a001e22956519decdd6bd16e65c68c6cb)

    Here ya go:
    Lobby ID: 647629642075344740
    sinking.jpg
    I'm sinking!!!

First try on random desert planet by the way. I also tried it once with water/earth type and once with ice planet, but those didn't have it. Maybe it's just desert that does it.

Edit: Oh darn, you asked for save game... Let's try that again. :)

    @jorgenpt

Ok, made a new one. This time I saved. Lobby ID is 3712319250841486317. Metal planet this time.
Kind of odd though. I made a save, but I don't see it under single player -> load game. Actually, I don't even see the replay under replays -> my games either... Good think I wrote down the lobby ID first. :)
I hope that's enough to find the save game as well.

Anyway, the best way to repro this is to get a desert or metal planet. Build a bunch of bot factories spewing out boom bots and have them on global patrol. I can find the bogus CGSes within three minutes if I do that.

Edit: Oh, heh, the save is under Replays -> My Saved Games apparently. So all is well. :)

Oh, here is one that I forgot to report. I can reliably crash PA by using the Chronocam excessively. By that I mean I activate the Chronocam and grab hold of the time slider thingy to move back and forth in time. While not letting go of the mouse button, I rapidly move the mouse left and right to scroll through the replay. At some point PA will crash. I can reproduce this 100% so far. Might not be Linux related, but that's all I have.

Of course in real life I wouldn't to that, but I do crash every now and then when using the Chronocam in big games (it happened just now). It's probably the same bug, and with the method above you can reproduce it 100% of the time. Well, I can at least. :)

It doesn't upload a crash dump though. These are the last entries in the log:

Not sure if this is mentioned already. The game sometimes randomly stops taking user input. The game continues running but it just stops responding to any user input, neither mouse input nor keyboard input. The only way is to shut the game off completely. This is on Fedora 20 fully updated.

    Hi.
I bought the game Planetary Annihilation already very long time ago and in full price.

Unfortunately, from the beginning I had problems with her.

The game does not work normally. To play I had to run it with the parametr --software-ui otherwise the game load time to me without UI - was therefore not playable.
It happens on Linux Ubuntu 14.10 and 15.04 and Mageia 4x64.
A computer is Acer Aspire 7551G, the Phenom II X4 N930M, Radeon HD 5650 with fglrx driver, 4 GB of RAM.
Also I tested a few weeks ago on a desktop PC with Linux + Phenom II X6, the Radeon HD 5850 + fglrx Catalyst + 4 GB of RAM. Still is the same I need a run game with --software-ui :/

Here, look at games without softwareui on my radeon hd with catalyst (fglrx), game have no user UI!!! Look:

    steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=332388926
    steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=332389000

Also, when I tried to run the game on an open source drivers radeon + 10.6 mesa I had trouble graphic:

    steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=440110734
    steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=440111505

    steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=440111163
    steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=440111079
    steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=440110865
    steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=440110640
    steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=440110521
    steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=440110417
    steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=440110341
    steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=440110234

Help me and please fix issues with fglrx and opensource radeon driver.

EDIT: Sorry for this links to image from my account in steam but I can't paste in other way images :/
