I was reading the forum post for @cola_colin's "AlertsManager" mod, and he made a feature to move the Chronocam to the time of the alert as well as the location.

Does anyone use the Chronocam to see what happened in the past, while you're playing a live game?

Do you use it during ranked games, when the other player is actually very challenging?

I think I should bring back that feature in a working mod. I did use that feature.
With the normal UI it just is too damn slow to use it. While you watch the past the present jumps out of control.

I occasionally use it to review if something went tragically wrong that I didn't see, but otherwise it's already a bit frantic without skipping to chronocam

I really wish the chronocam could make easy jumps to past events, as in my old mod, but inside a pip. Sadly the "time" is a global thing and cannot be set per pip.

So far i have never used it.
If the pip would work (interface too big, overlaps with my construction interface), and if the pip could then show the chronocam alerts, then i would use it.

The last time i used it, it messed up my whole game...after that i never used it again

Scales down the UI so the PiP doesnt overlap

I use it once in a while. Fun to see what happened if I missed something important. I usually review most games replays quickly.

I use it very rarely to see what I scouted if I didn't have time to look before

I think that's the best use of it, which is awesome how it's a part of the game while you're playing, and not just after. I don't think any other studio has ever seriously considered such a feature.

Yeah I would only use it in a long orbital game, when I know my arkyd or advanced radar won't last too long on the planet.

A last 5 seconds vision of a scout mod if possible would be nice. But it would have to be in pip while you can still control your stuff. Doubt that's too modable.

Yea as Colin said time is across all screens constant. So pip and main both will be in the past or present.

@mkrater could you see how hard out would be to allow the PiP to set a different time than the main screen? It's definitely a feature that could be made use of, but somebody will have to get creative to fit the chronocam UI in that tiny box!

Heh, that would be crowding the tiny PiP box if it had the same chrono cam bar in there. :p
So essentially, are you trying to see back in time in one screen and continue playing in real time in another?

Oh it's definitely possible to make a compact chronocam interface for the PiP. You could even put it outside of the PiP. You just need a clickable timeline and a couple of small buttons.

In terms of implementing a different time scale, as the game is done now you'd need another "instance" of the game running in a window, since most of the state will be global.
