Hatred on the news. Video games once again labelled as an "entry drug" for violence.

well they dont have anything else to blame. Mental illness doesn't satisfy the public.

hey shortly before the video ends they clearly state that parents should watch what their children do.
    I call that progress.
Apart from that it seems they really dont have anything at all to do to make a new story on some small game on steam xD

If those aren't the words of a crazy person I don't know what is. I'm not watching that video because it's just going to p*ss me the hell off and frankly if anything was going to trigger a murderous rampage in me it would be ignorant newscasts broadcasting that kind of slander.

Huh, I thought they were done with this whole video-violence thing a decade ago. The last story where it was even mentioned was with the Brevik massacre, and even there it wasn't really credible and quickly subsided. Wasn't that World of Warcraft or something?

I guess it depends on where you get your news from. I mainly read the BBC though. American and Australian news may make a bigger deal about it.

If I recall correctly, video games were blamed for the Sandy Hook thing, but it's mostly done by the really hardcore right wing type news outlets like Fox.

To be perfectly honest, I don't really understand why Hatred garnered any controversy. Not only are the trailers kind of hilarious writing-wise but it's really not that bad.
Sure it has more grit than GTA or whatever, but it's still nowhere near close to realistic violence, you're still one person who's inexplicably capable of killing enough people to be called genocidal without being killed in the process.

How is it that Hatred got an AO rating when the original Rainbow Six got a freaking T? What is wrong with you, ESRB??

Ah, right, Sandy Hook. I just don't remember the video game connection for that one, but you are probably right.

Shooting terrorists is obviously ok. Duh. :p

If this highly professional review is anything to go by, GTA V is all about visiting strip clubs, right?:

To be fair, that looks pretty adult to me, but I forget what the ESRB ratings exactly are.

For 90% of any foreign stories Australia just copy-pastes that country's newscast about what happened.

Theres more violence on cnn and the news then any gta or mortal kombat can ever produce. They show footage even if its semi censored and keep mentioning it.

Let's be honest, this is exactly what the developers of Hatred want.

"The only people that would act violently after playing this game, are those who would act violently anyway"

That statement I believe to be correct, however I do think these types of video games are sick, and I can't really understand why people find these games fun. They wouldn't cause someone to act violently in real life as that type of thinking is on another level (mental illness) and there is enough violence on the news, movies, etc so you couldn't blame a single video game for sending them over the edge.

    they're just quoting fact.

Whether it means what it originally meant when you associate it with other ideas and out of context is another matter.....

look in the midst of what it's said. They're being super obvious about trying to be factual and upright so that side A just lets it slide allthewhile making sure they get their agenda pushed to side B. both sides are happy (more or less) they get all the win.

Someone saying something entirely composed of exact statements doesn't make him right in what he's saying as crazy as that might sound :)

If any of you haven't watched Nightcrawler by now, do so now, it's an amazing movie that explains alot.

I don't know, I find they're kind of fun gameplay-wise. Games like Hatred and Postal are just mindless action games with a weird fetish for "ultra-graphic" violence.

It's like any other isometric shooter, only the polygons you're shooting just happen to look like civilians instead of Nazis or aliens or whatever. I guess it all boils down to what each person finds acceptable when it comes down to violence and all that jazz.

I'm more worried about video games creating foul mouths than violence.

Video games contribute to the number of foul-mouthed children by exposing them to angry adults and other foul-mouthed children in an aggravated environment.

It's not 'Mericans, that's where a bunch of dark games are made- I think you mean. "Right Wing Extremist" (in most cases it seems)
