Forum horribly silent since a few weeks...

Hello,

Is that me or the forum has been horribly silent since a few weeks ?

Very little dev posts, jables is almsot completly silent, Quitch is talking alone in the Sorian AI thread (where Sorian used to be quite active).

A huge feature is coming ?
An anouncement making everybody Uber busy ?
Vacations ?
Bad virus at the office ?

Speculate !

I don't wanna be negative but silence is never good.

There woulds have been so much more to argue about.

That's one of the extra credits I disagree the most with.

We're currently in a typical "low activity" phase, because:
- Uber is finishing up a feature that is mainly interesting to single player
- In adding this feature a lot of new bugs have been created
- The next month will be spent on fixing these bugs

None of the above are things a lot of people get exited about.
It's however the right thing to do imho, before the next content patches in july or june the bugs need to be fixed or they will kill player retention.

I wonder how much revenue they made after the game launched. The owners are probably sitting on a beach somewhere while the 3-4 student developers they still hire are busy writing something that nobody cares about.

I played a few games at the weekend and yet again I was bored to death by the crappy maps. I'm sure I could spend 10 hours playing this game and probably only have 5-6 entertaining 5 minute periods. I'd rather go outside and kick a ball about to be honest.

i doubt it to be all that much ... considering how much they started with and how much they have invested into it further ...

last we heard they sort of sold like 600 to 700 k in units ... but how much of those were full price and how many were from sales or bundles ... and then how much did they have to invest back into the game ...

I am glad that they are working on bugfix, but in the meantime all visibility is dying.
There was a regular email about worked-on features and a short term visibility.
We often saw 1-2 dev posts a day in the general forum, but now...
Nada. General radio silence since some good time.
It is true that it is better to work on the problems to solve them than to just talk about them, but a little newsletter here and there is never bad !

@mkrater has been handling most of the forum posts lately, and has been fairly active across a lot of forums/subforums. We're still keeping things moving on our end, but I have been buried handling company side items, as the PA planning is in a decent shape currently.

TLDR: mkrater will be around forums more (follow her too!), jables is pushing more on Uber side items currently (director of production means I have to deal with all the things )

reworked GW when?

Next pass on GW usablity will be somewhere around June at the far end.. possibly May. We're doing experiments with some ideas now. Will depend on how good they turn out.

DeathByDenim notices that jables is talking in the third person now. DeathByDenim thinks jables may be overworked.

The one thing I think could make galatic war a hell of a game mode is random events that occur when a certain commander dies.

I've been playing Evolve and there is a mode where stuff like:
-toxic gas comes out when you do X
-monsters lay eggs around the map and makes it harder to do something since you or your team did Y
-the rivers flow with piranhas when you or your team does Z

That combined with maybe a short story would be so amazing that i would probably stop playing MP for a while.

Also cinematics seem to be a want for people interested in a story.

I think you are confusing third person singular with first person plural. That is "he" versus "we".
Specifically, jables saying "jables is pushing more on Uber side items currently".

Anyway, to return to the topic: mkrater posted five times today, seven times on Friday, three times on Thursday, two times on Wednesday, etcetera, so I am not entirely sure about "horribly silent", but maybe I spent too much time on this forum that I notice these sort of things.

I agree dev presence is still strong.

But what a title, oh boy! I can't relate more! this is not what I'm used to.

I'm used to having threads that have multiple replies per second.

that's the kinda stuff I dig.

that's why I loved this forum so much.

Multiple replies per second is what PA Chat is for.
As you can see it takes me dozens of minutes to write well thought out replies (ahem...) here in the forum!

Maybe we should start more discussion-worthy threads. Such as "Where have the Ants gone to? Will they return to seek bloody revenge?!?" or "I think the Leviathans should be twice as big!" or "Will they every fix @cola_colin's likes such that it doesn't screw up the formatting?".
