This issue has existed since the initial release of self hosting, at some point it turned me away from the game due to shear aggravation that things didn't work as intended.
The server process that is opened by the PA client seems to simply shut itself down on start-up.
Does anybody know what's going on here?

That's weird. That's the shortest server log I've ever seen.

Do you happen to have any software on this list?

Do you use any VPN software?

Also, can you try turning the local server off in settings -> server to see if that works? I mean that as a test, unless you don't mind having to be always on-line to play PA.

I can run and play online on the play-fab servers just fine. It's just the local host that has NEVER worked.
I've already taken care of the Norton issues.
The only thing I have on my computer in any way that's a VPN client is Hamachi, and its process and service are nearly always shut down. Ie: not used at the time of those logs.

There have been people with very serious issues that were caused by hamachi. Try to remove it completely and test again.
