Sorry to necro this thread but I searched for input lag and didn't see a newer thread that matched the issue I'm having. I'm been playing single player GW games through Steam with no mods and I've noticed a couple of different issues. The first issue is the input issue that this thread describes. I most recently had it before I even could select a landing zone. The screen flashed oddly which i hadn't seen before and suddenly the only thing I could do was scroll in and out. Previously the issue arose in a medium sized system (3 planets, myself, one enemy commander, 4 sub-commanders). This seems to be isolated to remote server games. I had been playing previously with the local server setting set to "On" and did not encounter this issue. That brings me to the other kind of lag that I've noticed though. When playing on a local server, when the unit count in the match gets fairly high, the FPS of the game starts to drag. The server FPS does not seem to be affected, but the match FPS drops from the normal 10 down to about 1.7 or so. Oddly enough the UI works fabulously the entire time. I can spin around the planets, select groups at will, etc. so it's not the game that is slowed down, but I'm sitting there watching everything happen in slow motion. I'm kind of at a loss because I don't know what is worse... Losing the UI is potentially catastrophic especially since I can't even pause the game to wait it out. However, a big match on the local server with the slow-down I've seen can take hours at a time and without a save feature that's not always practical. I've been really enjoying the game and there are a lot of interesting elements to it, but if neither mode is going to work as designed, I don't know if I'm going to be able to keep with it. I guess I'll go back to the local server for the time being and just try to end the matches faster before the unit count gets too high... Not sure what I'll do for the faction commander maps with up to 5 enemy commanders on them...
This thread is almost a year old, so I don't think it's entirely relevant anymore. But could you check if you have any software from the following list? http://steamcommunity.com/app/233250/discussions/2/558751813508748383/
So the day after I posted this there was an update posted to the game. I haven't seen this issue since. I still get some game slowdown when there are multiple enemy commanders and the unit count gets high, but that's something to be expected and doesn't really seem like a bug. Looks like this was fixed by the patch and I should have waited a day. Frustration got the better of me. Thanks to Uber for addressing issues like this! Game is really fun!
