I am looking to form a new modding team in an attempt to revive the somewhat stagnant balance mod scene (I've been the sole developer of Statera for the past four months or so minus a few contributions from zx0, and those sole person touching json files for about a month after Statera was started). I will need a decent modeler familiar with 3DS Max, an animator familiar with 3DS Max, a texturer, a person with some skill in creating effects in PA, and I'd also appreciate a couple of people who will be able to run playtests and give balance suggestions. This new mod will be based off of Statera 1.4 Dev and will be released under a new name which I will announce once we're ready for a release. PM me or post below if you're interested.
I'd love to continue helping with models but obviously blender is out of date, I can still probably contribute a couple though. Id be up for giving the flash model to replace the old strider. Anyway it's just a bit difficult to do anything with the internet I had, I couldn't get on steam, teamspeak, etc... best I had was Skype. (Though no voice chat); hope you didn't take my absence harshly or as a resignation. Both Statera and RCBM have come to halt though for very different yet similar reasons. The similarities are mainly the fact of an engine that can't support our moderately amitious goals that hopefully in the future will. Not to mention the fact we had nobody to play test and such. -Stuff for the alerted developers below- It's pretty sad actually, I was really hoping to see balance mods boom when server mods were made public... but it still can't be anything but a dream truly until Uber fixes the bug with start icons. @chargrove @bgolus @jables @masterdigital @sorian I really hate to abuse this to get your attention, but you all seem like you're the ones that can pull the strings to get this fixed with the server/engine. You have no idea how greatful the modding community would be if this would happen.
Icons are only a small portion of the problem. Models cannot be shadowed for some strange reason, and I don't believe a single requested server mod hook has been implemented.
Still it's what I'd assume to be one of the simplest and most effective changes to have and should be first priority.
Would you like to use the tank i've been working on? Textures are almost done, and i already played around with the .pfx trail to make something really cool looking, I can post a screenshot if you'd like.
Put me down as a playtester. Also I would like to see the source code for this new balance mod when you have a chance to share it.
I could help with the modeling. If you need units, I have a few that are almost done, but i could still change them, or make new ones, if you have something specific in mind. I'm not a big fan of texturing, but the textures in PA are fairly simple, so that wouldnt be a problem either.
Thank you to those who have shown interest. I'm sending PMs to you so that we can get started. @KillerKiwiJuice Thanks for the offer, but your tank deviates a bit too much from the PA art style for me. Thanks anyway! Still looking for an experienced texturer, an effects person, and an animator.
It's cool, one day i'm going to make a model so awesome that Uber themselves will be asking to use it
I can volunteer if alpha or other people don't want to. I think i'd rank myself as an intermediate effects artist right now xD I've been messing around with lots of .pfx stuff the past few days.
Thanks for the offer put I'll pass this one. Keeping Cplosion, Xplosion and Pa-fx is already some work and besides that I'm also doing things for orbital warfare overhaul. @KillerKiwiJuice can probably do the same things as me by now and if not he'll always be able to ask me stuff or post in on the forum. I'd say you have your effect specialist
Our modeller/texturer hasn't been seen for a month so it looks like I'll need someone else... Any takers?
You have my support, but I cannot actually do any work on it as far as models and junk. Maybe the code, but any idiot can do that no?
I would offer help with modelling but I only have Blender currently (my PC is.. still not finished) so I can only be of minimal support in that role - fairly competent texturing though. Might help your pipeline if you have two separate people working on that task, no?
Hey there, im fairly new to modding but im a quick learner. In school i'm being educated to become a game artist. I can model a little bit and can maybe texture for you. im still in the progress of learning animating atm but it seems fairly simple when i got the hang of it
