    CD player

seriously guys who even has one of those anymore?

everytime I have a CD, and it has stuff that I want.... I'm too lazy to go RIP it on someone else's computer, I just download it from the internet again.

road trip? and the car only has CD reader??? GAHH ! let's just borrow someone else's car, then we'll be able to plug in phones, USB keys... ect.

    who else?

Given the inherent reduction in audio quality of digitised music, I'll take a nice, well produced CD any day :)

I'd actually prefer vinyl over CD's however they're not so practical for driving.

If I am going to listen to digital music on my phone / PC, then I just use Spotify. Why mess about with MP3's when you can gain access to everything in once place?

My bluray/dvd drive can also read cds. I think I never bought a cd in all my live though.
When I was a child I listened to radio and maybe recorded music I liked from there. Then we got internet and I just started to pirate music (suddenly having access to music that is not the random pop music you have in the average radio was quite the awesome feeling) until I had a better income to actually buy the music from the people who I before only could steal from. By now the industry seems to have learned that drm free mp3 downloads are good, so whenever some good music is released it is usually a 10€ or so and a minute or two and I have the files from amazon and then there is youtube as well in case it isn't available as a mp3 download...
Never gonna buy a cd with music I guess. Dunno what all that fuss about audio quality is about, everything above 360p on youtube has the same quality to me.

To be honest it depends entirely on what you feed that music source into. The better your speakers / amplifier, the higher quality source material you need to make the most of it :)

I mean for listening to on average headphones, your usual 128 kbps mp3 is ok. Plum that though a good quality surround system though and it doesn't sound that crisp, again you'll not notice if that's all you listen to until someone plays a higher quality track over the same kit :p A CD of the same music is much better (although I admit there are now lossless digital formats, that incidentally use up much more space).

It's mild. Either way, OCC has no loss for the most part, there are actually a lot of lossless digital music formats so that is no arguement. Just download everything in occ and now most readers can play this music file too.

Ah so my choice to buy 30€ speaker boxes saved me from feeling bad when listing to music on youtube.
Such a wise choice by me ;)

Yeah probably a wise move :) One of my oldest friends is a real audio fanatic, he's spent over £10k (!) on audio kit for his home. I mean it does sound amazing- though he will *only* play audio on blue ray audio disks in 5.1 or 7.1 surround :p Anything less he's not happy with.

I found a stack of CDs in my house that I wanted to go through and find out what still works (many were scratched.) I don't have a cd player so I went out looking for a cheap one. Cheapest I could find was about $40.
So..... I still have a stack of CDs in my house.

why mess with mp3 when better standards exist?

I mean did Uber give you that digital soundtrack in mp3 only? NO.

this is exactly the kinda situation I have.

CD are no sooooooooo overrated. I mean they scratch all the time and then they're gone. why limit youself i mean seriously USB by the GIG or Meg is much cheaper than CD.

My point still stands, why download at all? Spotify gives you access to almost anything. Easier than messing around with files and memory sticks (its linux friendly too :))

Plus you can mix them together and have tracks a couple hours long.

I have every single Deadmau5 track (probably outdated now) mixed together into a 3 and a half hour long compilation. <3

If you like Deadmau5, you should probably go and buy / acquire all these:
