That's odd, I'm seeing a pattern in the distribution of the votes.

So far, only 4 users from the alpha / early beta have voted "Yes", but 9 users from that time interval have voted "No".

And it's not only that, I feel like we had this discussion before. Especially the part about building on artificial walls or building artificial forts.

When I'm not mistaken, then the last context for this discussion was "terraforming". Different mechanics, but the very same intention:
Improving your stance by fundamentally rewriting the structure of the map, whereby the results go far beyond building simple defenses. Just as with the original terraforming approach, such structures would be virtually indestructible under any regular conditions.

That can turn out rather frustrating for one side as it makes it possible to entirely eliminate the ground / naval based gameplay entirely.

That's worse than surrounding your base with a dozen wall layers, except that not even Infernos can chew through.

No, this type of map control is nothing you would want to give to any player. To easy to abuse, too hard to counter and it bears the risk of entirely eliminating large types of the game play as an assault on the ground layer can be made impossible.

Ancient thread, at one point defences were really OP.

i honestly dont have any interest in aktiv terraforming ...
terraforming as result of asteroid impacts is as far as i would want to see competitive play to go ...
as for t2 walls of any kind ... i am not so sure honestly as the gamemeta seems to have shift to where i think t2 walls could be too powerfull ... at the very least they should not allow direct fire units or towers to attack through them like t1 shieldwalls do ... those absorb quite some direct firepower already ...

Ah not saying I've played it - just that the 'Terran' style faction have interesting wall-mounted units and stuff. I think that stuff's interesting, certainly more so than a series of bollards.

meh ... they lack any propper defenses
their only means of defense are walls with turretslots you fill with 3 unittypes ... that means you have to split your armys firepower ... and there is only one unittype specialised for defense ... not realy a concept i like ...
