Dear god why? I understand it let's you aim whilst jumping, but uhm... RB??? It should be LB! RB is on the same side as the trigger to fire weapons which negates the positive of using one of the bumpers for jumping.... Man I hope they eventually make a control scheme that makes LB jump, maybe it's just all my time with Bumper jumper on Halo, but man... RB as jump feels clunky. (At least it's not A, that'd be ridiculous.

Speaking of all this, I actually figured out a nice controller control scheme for arena fps games like quake or reflex, I might make a post about that later. :p

While it's great that something works... I just can't play first person shooters with a controller. It feels straight up wrong.

Power to the people who can, I'm just not one of them.

I remember some time after getting a computer that can actually run games, I tried playing BF3 on my PS3 again (I was pretty good too) and I just went "oh god what is this whatwhomyhandshowwhyaimingatatreenow".

Its a bit hacky, I have very low dead zone, low base sensitivity with decent acceleration and a high cap sensitivity. The point being moving the analog stick to aim around is slower and so more precise whilst after a second or two it speeds up drastically for movement. left button is to jump, left stick click switches weapons to the left, and right stick click switches weapons to the right. Back button shows score, right trigger fires weapon. Its all designs so you never move your fingers off any button.

It actually works out pretty dang well. Movement with a controller is much better than a keyboard, however that is arguably void with its hampering on aiming, though I've found the little trick with sensitivity acceleration, low base sensitivity, and high cap sensitivity helps tremendously.

Edit: This doesn't mean I prefer a controller in fps games, as I did this just to see how well I could make it work, though I do still use the controller occasionally.

Eak, I use bumper jumper because I just can't do claw, heck I found out a while ago I've been holding the controller wrong for at least 5 years! I have my right pointer finger on right trigger, and left pointer finger on left bumper, when in fact my right pointer should be on right bumper and right middle finger on right trigger, and same with the left.

I still cant do it, it feels akward as hell for me. :p

Bumpers for jumping? o_O I'm just fine with my "A" button. (Or "X," that's fine too you Playstation nerds) Bumpers are for grenades or beating in Covenant faces.

@arseface When I play FPS games on a console, I usually max out the sensitivity because controllers are just so slow.

Also, I use my pointer finger for "Y," so I tend to use my middle finger for the bumper and trigger. My left hand holds it pretty much however I feel like. Depends on the game. Seems to work out pretty well for me when my Internet doesn't suck.

Bumper as jump is a pinnacle achievement in fps games and has been in since Halo 1 if I recall correctly, Left bumper in a control scheme called "bumper jumper" the reason for its existence is because when jumping you still have access to aiming and dont lose any control whilst jumping.

The only reason A is still the default is because people would feel too jarred at first. A as jump was built for platforms, not fps games.

If you own an Xbox one and Halo MCC we could do some practice matches where you have lb to jump, I swear you'll enjoy the change immensely when you get used to it. :)

Oh wait... You play claw? Okay then, you might not need this then, bumper jumper is designed for people who want all the positives of claw without... playing claw. Because it's weird to learn xD

@squishypon3 "Dying Light used RB to jump on console!"

Lol, I just heard that Dying Light used shoulders to jump, got excited enough to tell you this, then I read the title. xD

Edit: what is the default font size on the forums @LennardF1989 ?

Haha, it needs to be LB! Rrrrgh.

I noticed it's not as bad as I thought though, because you actually can't fire weapons when jumping, which means firing and jumping never happens at the same time.

Man though if it used A to jump nobody would ever be able to turn and jump at the same time. XD
