    Hey

Upon loading in to a game planets load reasonably quickly but the UI takes around 53 in game seconds to load up. I can spawn in and move the commander around but can't build anything until the UI has loaded even with hotkeys.

Have you any mods installed? How long have you had the game / had this issue?

    Currently got:
    • Cplosion V4.1
    • Hotbuild2
    • System Sharing
    • PA Stats
    • Mod BatchSize
    • Faster Server Browser
    • Gandalf's Map Pack
    • Floating Framework
    • Blueprint Info Framework
Active, a few others in mod manager that I don't use anymore (not sure if that effects). Had the game since beta began, think I got it on humble sale when it changed to beta (run it through steam though). Problem been going on since I picked the game up again around the time of the 2v2 tourney. Had a longer load time then, turned off a few mods and seemed to fix that but UI still took longer to load.

Turn off all mods and see if that helps: then boot them up one by one to find the culprit.

You could also be loading files from your local folder that you could be unaware of. C:/users/you/app data/ local/Uber entertainment mods. Or something like that. See if any other floating around in there.

Also open Pamm and make sure all your mods are updated.

Can you try starting PA it with the --nomods flag? That will completely prevent PA from loading any mods. Does the UI still take a very long time to load after you've spawned? Can you also try it using --software-ui instead of --nomods?

    (Edit: Doh, ninja'd)

All mods switched off, still took 52secs by game clock to load UI, also checked the file location and all the mods I expected to be there are there and according to PAMM they're all up to date.

Bit of a noob when it comes to this sort of stuff, is that a command or just a case of turning all the mods off?

I'm not a Steam user myself, but the Internet tells me that you can right-click a game, choose Properties and then click the "Set Launch Options" button to specify additional parameters. That should be where you either put --software-ui or --nomods.

Yeah thought it might be in there, but it said advanced users and I decided not to mess haha. Anyway tried both, got it in 50 seconds with '--software-ui' and no change with '--nomods'. Possibly a fluke the 50 seconds though

Wow, it still takes 50 seconds after spawning for you to get an UI? Even with --software-ui?

Does it only take that long the first time? If you play a second game without quitting the PA client, does it still take that long?

Does it depend on system size? That is, if you play a small system such as Berg or Forge, does it still take so long to load the UI after spawning?

By the way, there is a small possibility that a driver update could help. There are newer drivers out there then you have installed right now. You can download them here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows 8.1 - 64

Usually every game, usuaslly only play 1v1 ranked so only really noticed it on that system and it's usually about the same. Currently re downloading the game in hope that will help, (the old turn it off and on method)

Will also download that driver thanks

Yeah, none of this worked haha, still looking at 50 seconds ish. Does change per map though, pacific was 47secs while forge was 53

I'm amazed you manage to played ranked 1v1 with those delays. Well, playing and winning. :)

Time for some more tests. Can you disable all firewalls/virus scanners/malware scanner/etc. and see if the problem still occurs? Also, do you have any software on this list?

It doesn't affect the main game, I've just gotta wait the nearly a min to hit ready. So all in all it's just annoying to wait it out for me and for who ever is on the other end of the game. That is until I press ready too early and could do nothing but com rush haha.

As for the list, just Kaspersky, but I'll disable everything and give it a bash.

Slightly quicker, but still all about the comm rush

Oh, wait, I interpreted "I can spawn in and move the commander around but can't build anything until the UI has loaded even with hotkeys." as you being able to pick a spawn, but after that the UI just wouldn't come on.

Right, no, I have that too. When I have just joined a match after a fresh boot of my computer, I too have to wait for the UI to load for quite a while. I don't see a READY button or spawn points to select from though. In all of the subsequent games (even after closing PA), the UI is a lot snappier to initialize (less than two seconds).

This is what it looks like for me while I wait for the UI to load:
    start.jpg
Note that there isn't even a big "1" to indicate the spawn points.

That takes a few dozen seconds, after which I get the text about having to choose a spawn point. However, it's impossible for me to choose a spawn point or start the game before the UI initializes. What do you see?

I think it may simply be that you have an integrated cpu/graphics card so you are never going to get the game loading up as fast as other people can do who have beefier systems. There are 2 minutes to ready up at the start of the game so while its annoying that you have to wait 50 seconds, it shouldn't affect your start.

For me the planets and spawn point load up, so i can pick a spawn and spawn it, but depending how long I've left it depends whether I then get a build bar along the bottom or not.

Yeah that's what I kind of assumed, but just couldn't understand why the planets loaded instantly almost but the UI takes that much longer, didn't know if I had a bug or some sort of flaw somewhere.

The UI is done using the Coherent UI (which is basically a Chromium web browser), while the planets and such are rendered by Uber's in-house engine. The Coherent UI is sometimes a bit sluggish, but it's all based on JavaScript which makes it really easy to mod it.
