If we intend to have specs, we are capped at a 4v4 as TA didn't have spec slots and relied on players SD'ing.

What map you guys going to use? The most popular one how is gow44. Shame I can't make it this weekend. My SO is flying over for valentines weekend and I used all my charm saying that Paris is romantic, which means France is romantic, so watching the Ireland/France rugby game is also romantic.

Edit, also on maps, hopefully we can do a few. I personally am not all that fused about gow, I prefer larger maps with room to expand. Patented desert is still my fave ota map.

Also whats all this rubbish you've added to the OP? No commanders in front line positions, really?! The commander is a key offensive unit in TA, and is what my play-style is based around. I gather you never really played TA online much in the past? Next you'll be telling me we've got to allow for 'build time'? No nukes maybe as well? *sigh*

To be clear I'll go along with whatever *everyone* agrees with at the start, although I'm not all that keen on arbitrarily making up rules for no reason, and front line commanders was always an acceptable move back when TA was played on a regular basis. To be honest the only things frowned upon were troll maneuvers such as *com bombing* (i.e. moving you com into your opponents base via air transport or similar very early), com napping (again using transports) as well as using the 'off the edge' trick with bombers. Being aggressive with the commander through the game isn't an exploit though

No Ben, let everything be. There is absolutely zero need to come up with some bs "gentleman's rules". TA is a game of risk and reward and there's nothing to be gained by removing that element. Play the game that TA is or don't play at all. Use a balance mod like Ground Control, which I linked above, if you have to, but if its in the game it has to be acceptable.
