Hey! Yeah the keep it up is the best stuff. I've worked on storyboards, comics, and children's illustration stuff, you've gotta find the joy in it, would be my greatest tip. If your into a 'moving in to your sketchbook' type phase, remember to take it everywhere you go. A kinda, "this is my sketchbook, there are many others like it, but this is MY sketchbook," to paraphrase full metal jacket. Enjoy while you can, sadly living in your sketchbook does not pay the bills.
@kvalheim You should post some of your current work on the forums. I personally like to run through the Loomis books.
How's the progress so far? I know it's only been a few days but it can be very tough to keep working. I'm am excellent artist (some of my stuff is actually the examples for classes), however I haven't drawn in years. I find the best reason to draw is if it's a really interesting subject or if I'm emotionally invested in it. Don't be afraid to spend a long time working to get a peice right where you want, and take others' word for how good it is, being the one who drew it, you'll see every fault.
Had a little break, hella busy weekend with coursework and people being deported back to the US and not going to see them again for at least a year. Going to the doctors in an hour then gotta draw up some level designs in Illustrator all afternoon, but then I might try get something done this evening.
Only found the thread now but I am a student 3d Gam Artist. Also got my own game studio so maybe I can help you with some stuff when your doing 3D work. And when you do and need some advise mention if is for ingame (Unity, UDK, Unreal) as that makes it a lot more demanding piece of work with more restrictions This is my latest piece from January. Maya, Zbrush, DDO.
Oh cool. I went in today to draw up some level designs for my Ent. Design group module, then afterwards instead of going home I ended up pissing about for hours in UDK.
Tobad I am not familiar with the UI and technical stuff of UDK and Unreal (although im getting Unreal 4 in a couple of weeks) But I am very familiar with much of Unity 4/5.
Have an art dump then. I've been doing a sort of weekly drawing upload thing with some people from uni, here's my one from yesterday. Also since there was UDK discussion, I'll just show up my coursework
