    Interesting...

Looks like a Terraria clone, which I enjoyed.

So what makes this different than Terraria?

It's got eight different planets that you can travel to via portals that you find underground, each with a different assortment of resources, different (and progressively harder mobs).

You've got Terra, the earth planet, which provides workable stone and oodles coal and is where you start out along with being the only planet to have seasonal variations determined at world generation.
Seth, the egyptian planet, which is full of more gold than you'll ever need.
Alba, the Utopian forest planet, which has high level ores in plentiful supply.
Xeno, an alien planet useful for certain pieces of gear and acid, a liquid with unique properties that is a necessity for mob farming.
Cryo, an icy world that I need to spend more time in.
Magmar, a world of lava and monstrously powerful demons that drop useful gear.
Yuca, a mayan jungle world that, like Cryo, I need to spend more time.
Lilith, a moon world that was only introduced in the most recent update (and that consequently I need to spend more time in).

It's also got well over a thousand different items, (Most of which are either rare treasures to display on shelves or reagents to use in alchemy), a farming system, an animal breeding system (and a pet system), and hundreds of different blocks to use in your creations.

    Well, you sold me.

How was the combat on mobile?

I've played Terreria on iOS and the computer and the mouse and tactile keys were real big. I was able to defeat that eyeball boss without too much difficulty but couldn't beat him even with better equipment on iOS because of the controls.

I'm debating on buying this on my iPad but may just wait for the computer version.

Combat is more simple than Terraria, most swords are just tap enemy -> enemy gets HP taken away. No bosses. Some weapons freeze enemies in place. There are projectile weapons but they play a much lesser role than they do in Terraria.

So, what exactly makes a game a sandbox?

Is it being able to build stuff or just complete open-endedness?

Not sure, apparently GTA and SR are sometimes considered sandbox games?

I think it's the freedom to just do whatever you fancy doing.

To be honest, I'm at the "Boycott Greenlight unless there's a REALLY shitty Japanese VN with an even shittier translation, then vote for it for kicks".

I can't support greenlight. Too much bad gets through.

Looking at it is generally what I aim to avoid. The more people that act like it doesn't exist the better.

Thank you everyone that voted! After less than 5 days, Junk Jack X has been greenlit! I shall keep everyone updated if and when further things are announced. :)

Some most interesting things being shown on the development blog recently.

First of all is this image showing four new planets arriving soon: [IMG]

Thetis and all of the planets marked with question marks are not currently in the game. It is currently unknown if all of these will be implemented in the next update/when the game lands on steam or not, as we've already got a boatload of new stuff coming, such as the wiring system first seen in this screenshot from February: [IMG]

The other new thing is the new lighting system, now supporting multi-colored lights for your creative pleasure:
The different colored lights are made from different types of slime goo. As is clearly visible in this screen, the new lighting engine really makes these stand out.

I hope y'all are as excited for what the next couple of months will bring as I am!

Supposedly Caves of Qud has a private beta on steam, but I haven't seen any public beta release announcements.

Those graphical updates make me more interested than the Steam videos do. The planet artwork is damn neat as well.

So about a month ago PB revealed that they had the game running on windows, mac, and linux natively: [IMG]

And then a couple of hours ago they released this teaser of a new planet: [IMG]

Exciting stuff. Steam release can't be too far off now.
