well actually not as much... I just love seeing homeworld bits again. the fact that it does look like some real decent effort is going into the 2.0 models and graphic engine really pleases me.

is it worth preordering with the current 15% off deal?..... I'm not quite sure 27€ seems pretty steep for me. I've gotta think it over.

I think it's worth it given they're 2 pretty long games :p Although my favourite (Cataclysm) isn't included (a bit of googling, the company doing the rework doesn't have the IP rights to it atm, so no idea if / when a Cataclysm remake would be possible :().

They have IP rights, they don't have the source code. Cataclysm wasn't even cannon though so...

The story for Cataclysm was written such that it didn't break the lore of the main game from what I remember. Also even if it did, it was by far the best *game* of the 3 of them (and a damned good story)...

Edit: I loved Homeworld 1 and 2, to the point I think I'll be getting this remake just to experience it in full HD glory :) The thing is, given how much I love those games- when I say I thought Cataclysm was even better, you can understand why I'd want it, and I'm sure I can't be the only one...

Out of interest have you ever played it @stuart98?

Cataclysm was great and its gameplay was more refined than that of HW1 (Or HW2 for that matter, but that's another can of worms) but the storyline for HW1 was far the superior and it felt more strategic, if less refined than Cata.

OP says he's hyped for homeworld remastered, and quite frankly I can't see why, the game was subpar.

no reason to be hyped for a meh game, there simply cannot be a good space rts
because that's how space works, it'd be like playing supcom on a map with nothing but flat ground & no terrain features

Hell, the best space rts, SoaSE, was only "good" because the gameplay was more in the economy and basebuilding part than the space combat part, because the developers realized that space combat is boring as ****

Your crazy, homeworld was one of the most innovative games to date. No one had done a 3d space rts before. The graphics were waay ahead of it's time. I don't think ANYONE has told such a strong and interesting narrative yet. The ship design and gameplay was top notch. Be honest, did you even play homeworld?

Yes. It's a space rts and all space RTS games are bad, no matter how innovative. Terrain is one of the fundamental features of the RTS genre that makes RTS games fun, which... you don't get in space.

I don't know about 3d space RTS's, but AI War is godlike. Terrain is most certainly not necessary.
