-New orbital unit (Thor) The Thor is a powerful orbital unit, that can fire on interplanetary, however, the other planet must have a radar/satellite in order to fire on it accurately. It can also fire on the planet it is on, but only in it's weapon's line of site (it can not hit the other side of the planet). moving, and has a slow rate of fire. But it's cannon (rail gun) is very destructive. - Orbital unit cannon A orbital version of the unit cannon, which can fire any where. -space stations/construction of planets Have a way for the player to build space stations, which act like small platforms, or tiny planets. And have a very large artificial planet creator (you can build planets but they are just moons) or convert gas into another type of planet, it also divides the radius by three when you convert the gas planet (the gas is turning into rock) -Star ships While not vital, it would be very cool to have Star ships, which fire on planets with powerful cannons and guns and lasers. However in order to build them, a space ship factory must be built, or in other words a space station. There would Have to be ways to to defend against these monsters -New superpower Weapon annihilation cannon it is a massive cannon (rail gun) that has to be built on a magnetic pole of a planet (it uses the magnetic field to power this massive weapon) It can fire at other planets, one of these cannons destroys half of a moon (default size) leaving a big giant crater. EMP Like a nuke, but it does not deal damage. It effects a much greater area however, and it shuts down everything in the area of affect, leaving them vulnerable, orbital units affected by EMP come crashing down and blow up. If any thing is hit by this, it is useless for a long enough time for a nuke to also hit. The EMP launcher can hit other planets, and shuts down hallies and annihilation lasers, this provides a good way to defend against those weapons . -New buildings --New air defense (Hail fire), with much greater range, and rapid fire, but low damage. --New anti orbital defense (Dragon fire cannon) this cannon has a large range, but very slow rate of fire, and decent damage. -New units -- Vehicle (ark angle) this tank has two modes, sentry mode, and assault mode, in sentry mode, it has a large cannon, which pulverizes ground troops, and has a big barrage of anti air missiles, it is also stationary, and can not move. assault mode has a laser turret, that can attack both air and ground, but half damage and accuracy on air units. -- Air unit (sky lance) this is a T-2 anti air fighter, with high health, it has powerful tactical missiles, that do more damage to air, It is also very very fast. --Vehicle (mammoth) this is a large tank, with a large arsenal of weapons, it is slow and bulky, and can fabricate T-1 bots. -- Orbital (Titan) this is a rapid firing but super slow unit, like anchor, however it fires a constant beam. New factory and unit type! Walker! Walkers are massive, they require to be built in orbit by large walker factory's (can move between planets, because they drop them on the planet) there are different walkers, which are fitted with a factory (they can build units, like a factory) they have massive guns. If you look up "Universe at war" this is where I am getting my Idea from, the faction called Heresy, have massive mechanical walkers, that dominate the battle field. Note, not the book, it is a video game.
You've got some nice ideas there. Unfortunately I don't think a majority of these ideas will make it in to vanilla due to many reasons (will expand on when not typing on phone). Those ideas have some great mod potential though. If another modder doesn't get on it, I'll have to give it a shot after the completion of my next unannounced project. Also if you have the time take a look at the orbital warfare overhaul mod. If you want large ships in orbit then that's the mod for you Ok finishing up with the shameless self advertising now.
I'm not a fan of the whole magnetic pole thing. But weapons that can cause craters would be kinda cool. A bit like a halley but with (way) smaller impact and not losing a (halleyable) planet. Also way more expensive.
and also the big north pole laser will be (assumingly) be buildable on every planet, losing the mechanic of trying to obtain a planet capable of superweapons
Yes, but It would have to be way more expensive, and would have a great power draw, in order to fire it, because on a metal world, the beam is powered by the planet
Both yes and no, yes, bots do walk, by walker, I mean Much greater in size, bigger than any commander.
Yes, true, but it makes a reason to have magnetic poles, the poles just make it deal the damage, you still have to have a lot of power generators, Because it takes a massive amount of power, because if you run out of power when firing the weapon, it resets, and will not fire. Unlike halleys, it costs a ton of metal, because of it's size. And it is not overpowering an annihilation laser, the planet mostly powers it, and this cannon, uses your own power supply. If you build it on a metal planet, it's damage is stronger. Or in other words, the planet biome affects it's power.
