So one way to improve the user interface would be the ability to toggle certain layers and things on and off. A great way to start this initiative would be an option to toggle the orbital layer on and off. I do realize that you can uncheck a unit and stuff, but it is a unnecessary burden, especially when commanding large armies and constantly reselecting. Maybe the next step is to toggle units that are in patrol?

you mean the orbital grid? That would be nice, I concur...

Yeah it would definitely help to have something that toggles the orbital layer, maybe it would make the icons for the ground layer grey out and only the orbital layer could be selected. It could be the same for toggling the ground layer, where it would grey out orbital icons and the orbital grid would disappear.

pretty simple (at least on paper) have a toggle between surface units and orbital units that you can select when in strategic view ... especialy if your planets are cluttered with units it becomes a pain in the butt ... and not every player is good with using hotkeys ...

while in orbital layer view, it really should fade out or remove surface unit icons...

This all used to be a thing. When selecting orbital anything, ground icons would turn off. With the exception of the orbital launcher, commander, and at least one other thing. Although while selecting orbital you could zoom in to a certain distance and all icons would be available, which allowed easy orbital and surface interaction still if needed. Can't remember how it all exactly worked but it definitely made controlling everything so much easier.

I honestly don't recall. It was months ago at least at this point. It was an option in the ui settings.

Couldn't agree more, this has been raised many times. Unit selection gets very fiddly with orbital involved.

There used to be a system by which selecting orbital units turned off the icons for all non-orbitals. only umbrellas, commanders, and radars remained visible on the ground.

It needs the be toggleable, as I prefer the cluttered mess to losing some of my valuable intel on the battelfield, ESPECIALLY if I can't see enemy unit icons on planet.

It was toggleable and was off by default.

Bump support. Needs a serious look, orbital UI can only go up from here :|

There was a middle zoom point if I recall, whereas all icons were visible. I honestly think it was far superior to the current ui. It was also off by default :)

Or uber could create a passive system by raising the height of orbital even higher, so that there will be a point where only surface is visible
