I've built a custom system. It has one planet. It's a rather large planet, 700 units in radius. It has 75 metal spots and 5 starting points. When I try to play team armies on an AI Skirmish, it automatically changes the map. I attempted only a 2 vs 2 match. When I reselect my system, it changes the game mode to free for all, leaving the teams in tack, but the option to Share Armies is gone. Is there something that I am doing wrong when creating the system? It seems plenty large for 4 players. The start positions are generated. Edit: RESOLVED by the patch that hit 1/29/2015 (GMT -6).
Well, creating a system with only 5 spawns and then trying to start a game with 6 players does sound like things would go wrong. That said I've also seen an issue odd times when the lobby chooses a new system when you select "team armies" instead of FFA, so I don't think it's specific to your system. I usually just choose the planet after choosing the game type so that it doesn't happen. Regarding sharing armies, the AI simply can't share an army either with another AI or a human player. Shared armies is MP only.
I'll keep an eye out for that. That explains a lot. "Why didn't that idea occur to me as speculation" he asks himself. Edit: Thanks.
Sounds Good. I was just wondering if there is something I am doing wrong with the creation of the system. As cynischizm pointed out that AI can't do shared armies, I tried creating a multiplayer 2v2 and it still won't let me. Not only does it change to FFA it also moves it back to private.
I think a problem might be that since AI can't share armies, they also can't "share" spawn points This leads to the game recognising more "armies" than planned for and screws up any symmetrical spawns you had planned
[Deleted some content, because I misread. ] The patch fixed my problem. My maps works as they should now.
