Gonna be awesome! If you're gonna be there, we should meet up. Haven't heard anything from Uber about PAX South in a while, so I'm gonna guess they either aren't going to be there or they forgot to tell anyone.
I wish I could go. https://forums.uberent.com/threads/pax-south.67472/#post-1059929 It should be pretty awesome! Have fun!!
PAX was pretty great so far. In particular, I was SUPER excited to play Dreadnaught and Gigantic – two games that I am eagerly awaiting. I can also say that both games are super fun. My team won for both games, so I got a shirt for each! Dreadnaught The game looks amazing. Like, just blew my mind with how incredible it looked. The detail... just... awesome. The gameplay itself was quite fun. Having a well rounded team that works together will be paramount. I imagine mediocre players who play together on voice chat will absolutely obliterate really good players who don't coordinate. I played the entire match as a Dreadnaught. I didn't get too many kills, but got a bunch of assists and acted as a damage sponge, kept alive by a friendly repair ship, and shielded two sniper ships that hung out right behind me – and those two ships got a lot of kills. It was pretty great. Gigantic It's pretty difficult to say exactly what game this is most like, because it isn't really quite like any other game but has a lot of similarities to other games. The best way I can describe it is as a cross between a MOBA without the minions and third person TF2. On each map, there's capture points. Capturing a capture point lets you spawn a creature. There will be more, but there's a melee creature, a ranged creature, a healing creature, and a creature that allows players to spawn quicker. Controlling spawn points grants your team ticks, as does killing enemies. So you want map control and kills. When your team's charge bar fills up, your Guardian (a MASSIVE sphynx or dragon) moves forward across the map to the enemy guardian and there's a clash. Your guardian knocks out the enemy guardian for a short time and it becomes vulnerable. There are no respawns during clashes. When the enemy guardian is vulnerable, you attack it for all you're worth to lower its health. First team to kill the enemy guardian wins. The gameplay was suuuuuper fun. Just awesome. The characters had a TON of variety, customizability, and unique characteristics. They're all very over the top style characters kinda like TF2. The graphics are fantastic, and this is only pre-alpha – so they're gonna get better. All of the characters have tons of awesome detail and personality to how they move. Watch some gameplay and pay attention to the movement and animations and whatnot. Just very well done. There are melee characters, ranged characters, support characters, and AOE characters. The movement is very fluid, fast, and seems to feel like there is a very high skill cap for it. You can sprint, dash to the side, and back. So a good player can be very fast and very hard to hit, but has no problem at all hitting opponents. I am going to waste a TON of time with this game.
Were the shirts the right size? Because at PAX Aus some genius gave me an XL shirt and the only thing I can do with that is go paragliding.
PRE-alpha? They've had a closed alpha testing going on for a while now. Too bad their NDA is so strict that there's barely any content about it anywhere. Also https://forums.uberent.com/threads/gigantic-the-next-smnc.64802/

B-BUT FALLOUT! Guess I'll have to go back to watching the Fallout 3 teaser on repeat... I dooon't want to set the wooorld on fiiiiire.....
Fallout may have made me legitimately enjoy olden music of the 40s through 60s. (Yes I know, quite a bit of gap there, but fallout 3 was more 40s and new Vegas was a bit more 60s iirc)
