I'm enjoying the windows 10 tech preview and looking forward to windows 10 in general. I've had less issues with older/weeaboo games on it. Less crashes and refusals to start has been really nice. Now, the core systems have had some pretty interesting bugs. But non-core game stuff has mostly been solid. Only game I have that has issues is the FUMBBL client.
I knew about this a month or so ago IT WILL BE AWESOME! <3 Basically PS4 goes to PS Vita, Wii U goes to their weird tablet thing, and Xbox one goes to ANY WINDOWS 10 DEVICE! Aaahhhh I can't wait to play Halo 5 on my computer... or heck I could even play it on some crappy windows tablet for the lulz.
Ooh forgot to mention.. I actually opted into the windows early program thing so that I'll be getting the version of windows 10 that contains the stream bit early. Seriously can't wait man, have been hyped for this for a long while. Glad they finally made a big announcement about it.
I watched their official video- I don't think I've seen this one exactly but I watched a guy showing it off on a stage! What'd I say wrong? It should stream to any Windows 10 devices?
That he does. I agree with him about a lot of things. This isn't one of them. I personally don't care one way or another since I'm not an xbox person, but it feels like he's intentionally ignoring all upsides in his video.
A huge upside to me is... I have a **** computer, and obviously this will mean I can play more games an such, but of course he assumes anyone with a PC must own a beast. Not to mention he is incorrect about the fact that.... Xbox one and PS4 games run at 60fps with 1080p resolution... I guess he didn't care enough to research that? O.O
I've been completely over TB's BS for a while now. He likes to parade the facts around and then say BUT I DONT LIKE IT SO YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER. He didn't used to. Used to enjoy his stuff
How many games actually do that? I think he has a point with saying that streaming is an excuse not to actually port games.
Which he is _wrong_ about. Streaming is for xbox players, not PC players. (Or if you're both I guess) Again this is Xbox's version of what PS4 does with the VITA, and Wii U does with their tablet, only across ANY Windows 10 device! Remember, most people have a console for a reason... they cant afford a nice computer is one of them (the social aspect may be another) with this streaming addition an xbox player can finally play his or her games on their actual computer (figuratively) allowing said person to not only play xbox games, but also whatever pc games they own, and all the other great bits about having a mouse and keyboard. The problem is he's viewing this as a strictly PC gamer, rather than imagining this through the target audience... Obviously people who own an Xbox One.
Well seeing as you'd need to actually own the console in the first place it'd be a hit odd. But I suppose if it were there would still be some reareasoning behind it. Again it's just really the seemlessness of it all, everything in one (oh? The xbox one trademark? ) Basically the point of it would be that xbox keeps their exclusives, but people who own a pc and dont feel like swapping over and over get it in once machine. So if it _was_ marketed towards pc games it's not being made to aavoid porting, it's being made to avoid giving up exclusive games whilst Still allowing PC players to sort of play xbox games on their PC. I wonder if theyll allow mouse and keyboard support? If so I'm going to wreck havic in halo. =P
The idea that microsoft knows PC Gamers exist is probably a joke in the first place. They don't cater to us. They've never done anything truly helpful for the online community, and Vista and 8 really irked folks in that regard. 10 will be gold, I think. It won't be perfect, but it will get the job done.
It was a sort of sarcastic wow. As in "oh wow my less powerful machine can stream games to my more powerful machine. Ain't that something?" While we're talking about MS I just discovered this: Which I'm extremely skeptical about. Mainly because that's not god-damn holographic tech that's augmented reality. It will probably look ugly as hell, have dodgy input sensitivity and even though that video had that designer going "oh hey I had this cool idea for the fuel tank" only she can see that modifications she's making. To everyone else she's standing in front of the prototype and waving her hand in front of her face. ALL I WANT IS 3D HOLGRAMS LIKE EVERY COOL SCI FI MOVIE EVER. IS THAT REALLY TOO MUCH!!??
The biggest issue with streaming games (you can in Steam, play on one PC, run it on the other) is the mild latency. There is a noticeable delay between mouse and keyboard inputs. I haven't tried to see if that happens with a cross-over cable, but not many people have one of those lying around to connect an Xbox and a PC. I'd rather they just port the stupid games or code them at the same time. Xbox One now shares similar coding abilities with a PC (they both support the same something or other code that I can't remember. Maybe DirectX?). However, it is still cool I guess. Though I'll never use it.
Again, most people who own an Xbox One own it because they can't afford a super computer, and it's probably the most powerful machine they own. _this is for them_ The xbox one is significantly more powerful than my computer, heck the xbox 360 is significantly more powerful than my computer! I realise you may not use it, but do you even own an Xbox one? Why care if you dont? Of course you'd never use it then... Obviously there is an audience, because when I first saw this I got crazy hyped, heck I'm still crazy hyped! You're looking at this with blinders on, I swear, because this again is essentially what Playstation is doing with the VITA, and Wii U is doing with their tablet, only across any device that supports windows 10. From shitty notebooks, to handheld tablets, to a big 'Ole drawing tablet. I really just don't understand why you're so prone to saying you think it has no reason to exist and that you'd never use it... when you don't even own an Xbox one?... (also if they allow keyboard and mouse controls on the streamed Xbox games would be amazing... <3 )
I wouldn't think there would be much latency, as normally LAN games and stuff have pretty much nothing. Though it does seem reasonable to think there'd be a big difference between sending and receiving information on what others are doing to trying to send and receive inputs... (Oh hey, how do wireless devices like controllers have 0 latency anyway?)
