Ok, while both players are meeting in the lobby, they should have the opportunity to vote to change the map. If both players vote, the map will be changed (and they can't vote further.) If they don't, they play on the map already selected. EDIT: This is a veto button
This improvement is simple to understand, simple to implement and got simple advantages. I´d call this quite smart...
No! Quiet simply as The Most Poplular man on the internet today! The Power of what The Nosebreaker Posts is as good as a Fact! This is very bad Idea. Random chance is random chance!!!!!!!!! The Nosebreaker believes this was tried in another game and It lead to no one ever playing that game again!!!!! Luckily NO one likes your posts or listens to you so this game will be safe...... Specify which game. Meh, I have a "fresh" idea. Maybe 1v1 should play best of 3? Then, the first map is chosen at random no matter what. The LOSER then chooses the next map. Assuming the loser wins the 2nd round, the last map is selected randomly after both players get 1 map they can veto. You can give the matches cool names like "engagement", "redemption", and "sudden death". It doesn't have to be that complicated, it could be simple as all 3 maps chosen randomly after each player gets a 1 map veto. But it would be fun, given length of matches, to do best of 3.
Been suggested before. It's an alright idea, each player being able to eliminate a single map from the selection. I am just saying, with "map selection", multiple rounds would make it less luck based on which map was chosen.
In Starcraft 2 you can select a map you will never get I believe, also works. I'm not really bothered by the maps I get as they are all pretty cool but I can imagine some people are.
I do like the idea of being able to eliminate maps from the pool. For the more casual player, they can avoid playing on maps that they don't like, and for the more competitive player, they can focus the map selection on maps they want to improve on.
At the very least, if it's implemented when a match is found... All you're voting on is whether or not you both agree you want the map to randomly change to a different random one. So in the worst case, you simply play on that map if both players don't vote to change. I don't see the harm. +1 for me. Edit: Also, you can put a vote limit of 3 on. So you can both vote to change the map randomly up to 3 times and no more. Almost guaranteeing you get a different map each game.
