    Thread successfully not derailed! ;)

If you open one, I'll move to England.

ON TOPIC: I'd love to know the non steam numbers. I'm guessing it's far lower, but we could easily be as high as 8k or even more!

And all it took was a -80 off sale. What’s next -90?

Well it resulted in the game being a top seller *based on revenue* so it's obviously a policy that is paying off for Uber. As long as they can keep people interested and find ways of promoting the game like this then they can keep working on it. It also goes to show that there is quite a lot of interest in PA still, which is encouraging.

At the end of the day, whilst Uber would have liked to have sold all those copies at full price, the fact was it hasn't been selling at those prices in quantity. The market place determines the value of a product and I guess the 80% off sticker price hits the sweet spot for PA. Arguably had things gone differently perhaps that price point would have been higher, however the key thing is that there is a point at which PA sells really well. There is still interest in the project despite the problems, and we're currently moving on a positive trajectory.

If they can get the game to be #4 in the top revenue of steam over a whole weekend by putting it on -99% then please do so. It just means more players who get the game and as long as they are top 10 in the "most revenue" category it doesn't really matter what price they charge per copy. In fact it's better if it is cheap, cause there are 2 things needed:
    a) uber needs to be rich
    b) there need to be as many players as possible
So many players that buy for a low price is better than a single player buying it for 1 million $

True but I'm sure Uber would be happy with that last part if they could :p

Dunno. 1 million $ right now and no more income ever from PA? I'd hope they will make more income with PA in the future :p
Just a player paying 1 million now and everyone else still buying it normally? HELL YES.

I was saying on the basis that they were still making normal sales too :)

Top seller based on revenue, or based on number of copies sold? Where did you get *based on revenue*? Am I missing something?

@ufarax I think they somehow deduced it via Google and Steam. Though I'd like to get a pretty link to where they found this stuff.

    Edit: Found it. Source.

If by "moderator of a forum", you mean "a Valve employee" ;) (and, from what I read, the person who wrote the code behind that listing). Post #74 from your link also shows another Valve employee confirming the same.

Edit: and a 3rd employee on the next page confirming it again.

I read the entire post, and paid attention to "captain_video", his logic was flawless.

So you chose to believe a random poster who posts conspiracy theories instead of the developers of steam.
Well if you so chose. But consider:
This page watches the sales quite closely and they look like they are quite accurate per hour or so:
    http://tools.garry.tv/steamchart/?show=-50628,233250&range=2

Also if it is based on unit sold and not on revenue then Uber is rich since PA started on steam. Consider they where #1 (or close to that, my memory ...) in the top seller when they sold PA for 90$. Damn they must've made a ton if it really is based on units and not revenue. I mean they sold more units for 90$ than some random 5$ or less cheap indie games of that time.

It’s official; I’m the only one here…not drinking the cool aid. Without a -80 sale, this game averages 800 per day (Steam numbers). The devs offer 2 *-80 sale* in four weeks, and the community cheers. “Captain there’s a massive iceberg ahead” “darn the iceberg, all ahead…flank speed”

P.S Excuse the nautical terms, I'm watching Horatio Hornblower.

This is an annihilation type rts game.... It is a very niche title and like ta, sup com, fa and spring before it, regular player numbers are destined to be fairly low compared to the big multi player titles.

What's more important is there is a regular player base forming, and there is enough interest in the game that it sells when on offer which is providing uber funds to continue. I'm not really sure how that can be viewed as a bad thing, what benefit does you proving a niche title is niche accomplish? I'm not really getting your attitude....

I think they should aim to sell the game for cheap and then coax people with a self worth complex to spend money on different commander skins.
