That is true, uber was very silly with releasing a game in it's early stages then calling major fixes or issues "updates" when really that should have been in the game in the 1st place

That still doesn't fix the bad image that uber has now gained from it's past mistakes. As we have all see uber can get their act together and have a game which can be fun and enjoy able. The issues is that it's still held in the bad light of it's past which it shuldnt. It's a good game but now has to fight a bad light that it doesn't need anymore.

I'm no expert on the development and release of the game, but don't you think Uber released the game as it was because they had to for financial reasons? It looked to me like they were running out of money and needed some cash to pay their employees. Rather than it being a "silly" decision, it was likely the only option they had.

I think that they released it when they did because they needed to start the human resources kickstarter to avoid laying off a bunch of people and thought it would go over better with the PA populace if PA wasn't still in early access.

I used silly because I didn't want to insult the devs or anyone that has put a lot of time into this game. Many, many people have invested more than just money into this game and for me a person who promotes the game to call it a piece of **** even while streaming it would make me both a liar and a douche.

That said I will stand by my opinion that it was a very horrible decision and as a result lost a lot of good publicity to release it so early. Like a early born child uber still needed this baby grown and be ready to face the outside world but instead decided to pull it out early then call anything they need to fix "updates" I would have rather seen them take their time maybe even have to wait to get more sponsorship before calling it a finished game. The one we have NOW instead of back then would be what I wanted to see but of course money talks

They should do something like the Google Play Store and put a flag in the review stating it was from an older version and include the version number. Maybe even add in how old that version is. Let the review stay, but let people know the information could be outdated.

There is already special mark for early access reviews, but nothing for game versions and dates. :(

I still think the game has a long way to go even at this point. If you look at Supreme Commander 2 it was very polished but it was so clearly unfinished to the point of it becoming mundane. People only ever played about 4 different maps. If you go all the way back to Total Annihilation it only became really awesome with the added units and additional maps. I think the ethos behind this game is a lot better than the games before and so I really do hope that we get the maps to do it justice. I want viable 5v5 and 10 player FFA maps with choke-points that really play to the games mechanics. When we have those, I'm cool with the game being called finished. Unit Cannon, planet smashing, big laser thing or any other gimmick doesn't really interest me.

SupCom 2's AI would stop doing anything if you killed any of its structures within the first 5 minutes of the game, and that was just one of the bugs the game had at release. Polished, it was not.

Yeah it bugged me a lot how much heat PA took for the rough launch state, especially when you consider all the AAA titles people happily forked over for that launched in a terribad state. I think it kind of comes with the KS territory though, as the whole KS thing drives an amazingly strong sense of entitlement. This is both good and bad, but whats done is done. Uber has done a lot to pull back from the brink and no one can doubt the PA engine is an absolute triumph. With the ongoing polish I have high hopes we'll see the game continue to rise. What we really need now I think is for the community to foster life back into the competitive scene, which feels like it is slowly spooling down. We need more casters, more officially backed events, and just more general participation. I think if we can bring enough elite players back to the game, they might stick around this time.

There was more to the game than AI. The game was polished in so much as it looked and played really nicely in multiplayer, it's just a shame that they went to all of that effort to create all of those maps that simply didn't work with the game's mechanics. Too many maps had only one way to win which resulted in players playing the same maps over and over again. It would be cool to have taken the balanced maps that people did play and release new versions of them, slightly bigger/smaller, different mass locations, different number of players etc.

I played that game hard for a while with a few regulars that were always playing. In the end they all moved on to playing something else because although the game was really well built, it got old because of the lack of maps.

the community was making it it's n°1 mission to push uber to release.

many here believed waiting more would have caused PA to slip into the nether.

I'm not one to disagree with such beliefs, there was indeed a downward trend.

the original Christmas launch plan would have been even better IMO.
