Better Nights

    what do i mean by better nights? glad you asked!
    well i think that the nights should be darker hmmm more realistic i dunno about light from moons and such but still nights should be allot darker, so how we'll see u asked?
    with flashlights of course XD like every unit should have a flashlight and buildings and hell maybe even a new structure that functions as a flashlight so u can see better at night there's lots of options and i think im not the only one thinking this so WHOS WITH ME!! xD

    There's a darker night mod but i don't feel like searching for it.

    Then what do you mean exactly? As darker nights is kinda what the mod does.

    Though it's barely playable, I say this as an Intel HD 3000 player who had the issue early. >.>

    I released a more playable but less noticeable darkish nights mod a couple of days ago.

    But it breaks the game. I tried it and it made certain CGS not render and the Snow Biome was non existant. I hava a load of other visual mods so it might conflict somewhere

    Oh I know why that happens. Forgot that it was a problem you people need to remind me about these things! :(

    Not sure if I can provide an eta to when it will be fixed, don't have access to a PA capable comp ATM due to parents.

    lol just checked the updated darker night mod and i saw that it has flashlights xD well some units does
    i think u should add this flashlight to all units and some buildings but keep on the good work :)

    The headlights are in the vanilla game, it's just that they don't do **** because the night is as dark as day.

    For those who hadn't realized it, I've updated Dark(ish) Nights to fix the issues.

    They already said in a live stream over a year ago that this is what they wanted to do, sadly, it's not so easy to develop.

    I imagine it's just the PC's aren't ready for it, it must be extremely graphically taxing.

    ......wwwhich maybe explains why bots don't have them and are so OP .....OH!!!

    "PCs aren't ready for it" = "Not easy to develop".

    If you create something that isn't fit for purpose you might as well not have bothered.

    Most units do have lights though?! They developed a special 'instanced' light solution to handle the stupid number of point lights this game has and it works really well... or am I misunderstanding what we're talking about?

    yeah but think about it we only ever build bots. and they don't have lights

    maybe we can tie certain games lagging to them having way more tanks all of the sudden.

    At one point, @neutrino (could have been somebody else though) said he'd like to see about adding specialized units for lighting up bases and such.

    Currently, lights are on pretty much every vehicle and building, and some on other models. They developed a special way to handle all the lights that ends up taking almost no performance (at least not noticeable to us fools). Though from my understanding, the art team likes the current night, and the original HDR, sweet as it was, made night nearly pitch black.

    How can something called 'High Dynamic Range' make something 'Nearly pitch black'? Sounds like it was misnamed to me.

    Mavor stated that he wanted lights on everything and for those lights to light up the ground around them. Ideally there would be lights on each unit which light up the visible area so that everything outside of your fog of war is very dark whereas everything inside is very well lit.

    At the minute, I'm not sure I even recognise the difference between night and day.
