All I want for the spring patch: multiplayer polish and balance

    By priority,
    1. Fixing the lobbies.
    2. Anything else.

    Also, Uber should do a weekly or bi-weekly (once every two weeks) balance poll, and the most popular/reasonable change nominated by the community gets implemented the next day. Better to rely on the community to test balance changes, both because it takes less time and because you can always blame them when things go wrong. ;)

    one stupid question: do hovercraft count as amphibious units? i always think of amphibius as in can travers through deep water like the dox and slammer do already ... or swim on water like boats and ships

    When referring to game mechanics and individual units amphibious refers to units that go underwater, but when talking general gameplay hover units count as amphibious.

    For amphibious/hover units, all we need is a movement type for units that move across water, with maybe a number for how much the unit sinks down. (E.g. for heavier units that barely float, or hovercraft which have the same height above water as above ground.)

    Not sure if that would require a whole new pathing layer, or if amphib units could straddle the ground and watersurface layers.

    Yes. Self hosted servers from the players.

    From my understanding, granted I have been fairly out of the loop, but player hosted servers only show up in the browser with using PA Stats. We can't just boot up a server and get it to show up unless people have that mod and run the server through it.

    Unless there was an update that I missed. Something that Uber should have been yelling to the rooftops but weren't...

    as far as hovercraft goes i rather want them to have a dedicated factory ... because waterplanets and lavaplanets

    Otherwise, it's better to give the land factories some use on water planets. Likewise the naval facs could use some hovers as well.

    All I really want for balance now is useful grenadiers. Other balancing can wait like t2, but I want another unit that brings pain on the battlefield besides tanks and dox, and dox are only early game bigger battles.

    I think you mean multithreaded stimulation... The server already uses multiple threads for stuff like network management...

    ships and vehicles can have their own amphibius designs similar like the salem or fatboy/megalith (the latter ones a bit smaller though) they would still be clear ships and vehicles were hovercraft can akt as its own unitype with various designs
    yes TA did it and i personaly find it much better to have them seperated as hovercrafts are their own advanced units be they tanks, boats, low altitude gunships or larger vessels ...

    Hey guys, can we not derail this thread with a long discussion about hovercrafts? Maybe start a new thread about hovercrafts. This thread is about people who want an update focused on polish and balance, not new features, and your opinion for new features has already been well registered thanks.

    honestly the last patches pretty much were bout optimistion and balance
    so we cant say that they didnt do some of that ...
    so idk this thread pretty much is like saying "hey guys fix/optimise that thing you know is not yet finished and will have more issues as you go along but already work on" ....

    as said before it is an ongoing thing and i dont see a need to open up a new thread every week to remind the devs what to do ...

    Yeah it's really important that they fix the lobbies. I would also like to see the lobbies be made more customizable with sliders and options to turn off certain units.

    Agreed, and that's a fairly significant change; possible more profound than you realise. To allow this, PA will need access (even sandboxed) to the filesystem. Us modders would have a field day if that happened :)

    That would be pretty cool but I don't think they should focus on that unless they have nothing else to do, because we can just make mods that disable certain units and things like that.
