The Ratchet and Clank movie has me on the edge between "cautious optimism" and "prepping for disappointment".
    Same for Star Wars 7.

The more they advertise a movie the worse it is...

So Ratchet and Clank seems good

Disclaimer: This is not well tested, your mileage may vary.

It's a video game movie, life has taught me that those are to never be trusted.

The Halo film thingies were quite good. :)

At least they're not as bad as movies turned into games... oh man the avatar (blue people) game was... no.

Anyway it looks nice, fun. So far what I've seen looks like similar humour to the games, and I'm really happy these trailers aren't showing too much. Whenever a movie shows off all their jokes, gags, etc... you just know that's probably about it.

If LJN taught us anything as kids in the 90s...

Did you know I actually always thought I could make games better than them? I used to play Terminator 2: Judgement Day on the NES, and it was alright tbh, beat it without game genie codes and shtuff, but there is so much I felt could be done about the simple logic behind the gameplay. I would see tv series and movies as a kid, and imagine making my own 4-6 level platformer out of it, possibly some with objectives and stuff.

And if Terminator 2: Judgement Day for the NES taught me anything, it was how to dropshot ALL the time, at least ten years before Call of Duty existed.

    You didn't know? The original trailer came out in 2013... You're so lucky you didn't have to wait two years! ;~;

Well it *can't* be any worse than the Wing Commander movie :(

I love Wing Commander, and frankly the 2 hours + of included full on film in both WC3 and WC4 was far and beyond better than what they threw together for the 'official' film...

He meant ignorance is bliss because since he hadn't known about the movie until now he didn't have to wait two years for a movie with next to no advertising other than one trailer that I don't think ever even showed up on TV. :)

I know it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early for this kind of chat but I think Star Citizen could make a really cool movie. NO I AM NOT FANBOYING.

Just read about the Messer Era:
Human space ruled by a ruthless emperor
    War with aliens
    Humans are asshats to aliens
Aliens try to take back their homeworld and fail, becoming assimilated into the UEE, their numbers are in the mere hundreds.

It really can't be worse than Wing Commander, right?

Actually, to be fair, the storyline for Grey Goo sounds really good. Again, possibly movie-worthy.

I think PA's lore might make for an okay anime or something? Probably not a feature length film.

I swear I heard about some "evil nanites" movie somewhere...

I don't think PA has enough for a movie for sure. An animated short maybe?

@YourLocalMadSci had started writing his own take on the lore at some point. Made for some really good reading. Not sure whether he progressed it further, but it was awesome.

Lol Wing Commander had a great story, which played out beautifully though WC 3 and 4 (complete with a full cast including some big names). What *baffled* me was the fact they took such a strong story and murdered it so badly :(

So I just learnt that the Ratchet & Clank movie will also be made into a game which is a reboot of the original series and follows the plot of the movie which is similar to the first game but different in some places.

    So worst case scenario:

We get a bad film adaption of a good video game with a bad movie tie-in game which is also a bad reboot of a good game?

    Ok then...
