Certainly some people who claim to be religious are anything but. If one is going to call oneself a follower of Christ, one should try to emulate his teachings, and that is sadly pretty uncommon. Christ taught basically the same thing as Buddha, it's just unfortunate that too many people focus on the window-dressing rather than the actual message.

As for proof of God, as Squishy hinted at above - you can't show somebody the proof, they have to feel it themselves. Every religion has tried to explain the ineffable by using metaphor and allusion, and naturally people who don't get the allusion take things too literally. I can't say that I can tell you what God is any better than the next man, but I can tell you He doesn't care one iota what sort of hat you wear or who you fall in love with.

Genesis is allegorical, and does not in any way contradict the current scientific best-guess of the Big Bang.

I makes me sad that you people won't even consider that there may be an alternative to the 'truth' you've been told. Well, I've sown the seed, there's not much more I can go until you are ready.

It may seem silly, and I disagree with him as well... But just because you think something is dumb, or silly, or it doesn't agree with your views doesn't mean the person is instanly trolling. :p

He's wearing a Promethean banner, and a big part of our entire ethos is to be respectful to everyone. I don't see this thread as:

A: Relevant to PA (ok it's in unrelated)
B: Relevant to gaming in general
C: Respectful to people who like metal music, people who like dinosaurs and if its satire then it isn't respectful to people with strong religious beliefs either.

It strikes me as in poor taste whichever way you look at it.

Poor metalheads. Once more people act based upon prejudice and lies to put you in a corner you donĀ“t belong.

I was gonna say... aren't there metal Christian bands? But maybe that's beside the point. I'm assuming the existence of dinosaurs is really the topic, or maybe just challenging beliefs.
You're right in the respect that science changes. It's tough for a theory to become law. In some sciences, they don't believe in laws at all and gravity is still a theory.
But AFAIK, they've carbon-dated fossils and pinned them together to recreate the skeleton of the animal they believe it to be. The look of these animals, their skin and colors, all of these are still up for debate. Heck, even pinning them together has caused controversy.
So did dinosaurs exist? Yah, I still believe. ;)

I think this is really about challenging one's beliefs or who knows.

Absolutely. The christian anarchist, pacifist, and novelist Leo Tolstoy wrote War and Peace after his experiences in the Crimean war. He was also penpal with Mahatma Gandhi.
