so why not have a poll that's right where the random Commander is right now. (it disappears once you've voted and progress shows along the bottom afterwards)

this would be usefull for Uber to ask in an efficient way (the people who are playing) what they would prefer and settle some core debates once and for all.

    EXAMPLES :
    • should we do asteroid fields or multiplayer GW first?
    • mega units yes or no
    • unit size shrink yes or no
disclaimer: these topics are pure fantasy they are just there (as titled) as an example so do not adress them, that is pointless

would be great yes? and it would plug this hole where livestreams used to be.

Uh a poll to determine if we should have more polls.

I don't think a poll ingame is more valueable than one in the forums. I mean ingame you dont even have the chance for people to make a comment.
Maybe make forums threads to discuss the stuff, as we do now already, and have some sort of forums embed into PA.
So the main menu has a button that opens the forums ingame and has the person directly logged in as well.

you criticize the validity of a poll in the game?

It's clear to me the forum doesn't represent who plays as we constantly get new forum users who were playing from the start.

this means there are a lot of users who didn't even think of looking for this place or even know this place exists.

plus not all forum goers view all threads.

it would be easy to link to the debate here from PA.

    ......if links in PA worked.

Let me put it this way ...we are just a small part of the community.
Especially if we put into consideration that our playerbase is growing much faster than some months ago.

The average joe won´t find his way into the forums.
The average joe might very well be the reason we see a Planetary Annihilation 2 one day though.

Voted yes. Voted why? Because this can result in more votings. And those votings could result into valuable answers. And maybe this might someday result in something important---as a result! :D

Man, if only there was some website that had polls on it. And, you could like, make your own, and just below the poll there was an entire thread dedicated to its discussion. And if this website was already affiliated with PA and everyone who owned PA was already signed up to it.... unless you bought it on steam.

But I guess there is no such website :(

I think this would be a it helps to the point of not helping :l

While on one hand it would be good to have a in-game general pool about possible updates people want to see done before others

On the other it could cause eassy bias towards things that may seem inconsequential or unnecessary (Friends list revamping)

As much as I can understand the views in opposition...
I'm gonna have to agree with tatsujb.

I'm not someone who views every single thread, also if Uber puts their own polls up they have control over what direction the game takes based on what they're prepared to do- but still get valuable feedback from community.

A link/shared poll to the forums might be useful to those who wanna comment on the polls/grab those who do lots of theory crafting without playing lots.

The problem with anything that requires feedback (not just polls/etc) is delivery and reception- not the polls themselves. Also (assuming implementation is practical) polls or similar in game an easy way for Uber to say "Hey this is what we're doing, what do you like most?"

There's also the- when Uber messes up in the eyes of the community, we have an obvious clear and indisputable blunt rejection by either option in poll, or boycott of poll.

But I think for it to be more effective, assuming it can be done in the first place is multiple choice polls.
That way we have variation rather than binary choices.

Overall though, I vote yes! :)

would anyone think it an interesting UBER poll to ask whether you play more multiplayer or singleplayer?

(very few except I and Cola Colin posses a powerful enough computer to play entirely offline on singleplayer)

Oh hey it'd be a bit odd to do a multiplayer/singleplayer poll if you think about it- many singleplayer people will be offline. =P
