Probably some people would enjoy to play without getting some ranks, and are scared to play on ranked. Thanks to that some people could learn and in time, transfer to ranked. Also, It would decrease time to find a match, and decrease amount of "lobby simulation".
Unfortunately, the playerbase for PA is not yet large enough to be able to justify splitting matchmaking pools, to the best of my knowledge. This is a really good article by the developer of another game I play a lot of (again with a pretty small playerbase) which has a similar problem - every online game played is a ranked one.
Hah, mostly because I'm collecting money for new PC. Right now I share my rig with others in house and play occasionally to be better and stay in Uber ladder, not much time and place to be on teamspeak most of the time :< About the topic, I think it can work in a way that it helps clean up lobbys with 1-2 players, because all players could be in one pool. But yeah, maybe its good right now.
blizzard takes both ranked and unranked pools into the same system, if your playing unranked, you could be playing a ranked player anyways
You do not tell and you do not show in unranked games the players ranking. Exactly what PA would have to do in order to insure matchmaking. Edit: Microsoft as well.
what's there to complain about? You have two mmr's, one unranked mmr and one a ranked mmr. If you fool around on unranked mmr, you will be placed against ranked players with the same mmr ranked or unranked. Skill levels are no more mismatched than ranked vs ranked, and so the rewards or losses that derive are likewise no more skewed.
Like @cwarner7264 said While I would like to see competitive 2v2's (because that synergy would be so cool) I don't think there are just enough players to actually have that, I know the post was about 1v1's and unrank but I thought I would throw my 2 cents at 2v2's
