Should land units and factories be scaled down?

  1. Scale down units land!

    75.0%
  2. Keep it the same!

    25.0%

My reasoning for this change is

    1. This would make the planets feel larger, and as a result make the game look more grand.

    2. It would help make naval look big again.

Edit: sorry about any Grammar errors, english is not my native language.

    Yes.

    Please.

    YES OHMERGERSHYES

No seriously Uber scale down the units. We know it can't be hard because Colin's tool automates it without issue.

I bring this up now because I know it's possible (naval downscale on pts).

It's been possible forever. It's just that Uber think that the current size is right (or that they haven't changed it yet).

I want it so much I spent hours and hours on reversing the papa file format to a level where I can do this.

all I am saying is that since the team is currently focused on naval scale/balance, now would also be a great time to look at land scale and possibly orbital. To me it feels like the game is close to feature complete, and small details like this one can be focused on.

Cola, that looks fantastic. If the selection boxes were smaller it would be perfect. Also if you could zoom farther in, I feel like this change would really bring some of the iconic Supcom feel into this game.

Well you can zoom further in, but it's pointless for the screenshot to do so ;)
Also I usually have the icons enabled all the time, so I don't really notice the selection boxes.

Please just do it. It feels akward to play in a planet where the units are just 20 times smaller than the whole planet.

Using ReScalePA, it takes maybe 8 minutes per unit to scale down (for a noob like me). Multiply that by the number of units in the game, and it adds up to a lot of time.

Unless Uber has a better algorithm for scale, I don't think it's worth it.

There are what, 100 units and buildings total in PA? I would say that that is an absolutely wirthwile use of a day, to make the game look and feel better.

Having played with rescale PA, I don't actually like the way the smaller units look. I don't care at all about the unit to planet size realism issue. For me the planets are just 3D arenas anyway and I actually prefer map designs that emphasise gameplay over realism (most of my maps are arenas with lots of choke points). I would prefer in fact that T1 is kept at the same scale and T2 is scaled up a bit to make it look bigger. Making the units smaller makes them practically invisible. I know we all stay in strategic view most of the time, but I prefer being able to actually see the units.

ermm... the point is that ReScale actually can process all units in the game within less than 10 seconds...
Yes Uber can't use ReScalePA directly, but I'd assume they do knoow their own file formats good enough to write something similar in some way.

There would need to be some changes made to aoe weapons and particle effects. Possibly some downscaling of range as well. However, if this was done properly, the meta wouldn't really change.

I'm not sure I agree, maps would become HUGE.

Anyway, yes, please... Uber do dis. <3

that would make them slower and make the game last longer.

That problem can be easily resolved. Just use smaller planet sizes!
