I'd say what your describing is actually a 'rush' tactic rather than a 'turtle' play.

The thing you need to remember though- even though it wasn't shared armies, excess resources are still shared between ally games- so chances are his allies were wasting metal allowing him to get the fast t2. It's an annoying but perfectly legit tactic in a 3 v 2, though to be honest given that you guys were having a hard time with the other 2 dudes, if he'd just built t1 and pushed hard the game probably would have gone south for you either way.

As for the eco boost trick, yeah that is a cheat but it's also fixed thankfully as of the matchmaking / ladder patch I believe.

That's the best way to describe it.

I too think that any tactic or strategy that makes me lose is cheap and shouldn't be used...

Maybe everyone should get a win button. When they press it, the win screen shows up. However, in game nothing changes, so when the other people press it the win screen shows up for them too.

Then, everyone could get to see "you're winner" all day every day. Imagine how many people would recommend this game to their friends because it is easy to win? We would get such a big player boost. 10/10 please implement Uber. lol...
