Yeah, also this option should set the server to 'on' by default imo. That way it will *just work*. Maybe pop up a window with a warning where there is less than the recommended amount of ram but try it anyway.

There were several people complaining on the Kickstarter main thread saying there was still no offline. Obviously the capability is there however it isn't immediately obvious and there isn't anything that explains how to run the game fully offline without coming here and asking (I had to ask the first time I ran it).

@jables I think cpt is correct this is something that needs to be made simpler for new players.

just click on pa exe instead of launcher then go to the options menu server tap and click local server on ...
enjoy your singleplayer ... such a big deal ...

We know that :) The issue is a new player who has just got the game and *doesn't read the forums* probably wont. It isn't obvious. The same is true with the auto server mode, which is where a dedicated 'offline' button should be made available from the launcher and *before the login* prompt. Possibly with a dialogue that explains the limitations of that mode and so on.

Edit: It could even be a nice way to get some sales. Have a section of "so why would I want to log in"... "updates! cool new stuff! Multi-player" followed by a "don't have a login and would like to get one? Click here to purchase a key and get access to all the great features listed above!"....

Don't be a smart butt. Can you not understand why something like this is actually very necessary? For a plethora of reasons already well explained by others on this thread.

What are the minimum requirements, if I may ask? I want to figure out why it doesn't auto-offline for me. Even though offline has only ran better, since my internet is crappy.

A minimum of 4 cores for your CPU and 8GB of RAM (even allowing for a bit to be stolen by graphics cards, but I don't know how much exactly. A few hundred MB probably). And there is only a 64-bit version of the server executable, so it won't work at all on 32-bit Windows.

What, I have all that. Lame. How do you know if your GPU steals ram? Mine has 1 gb of vram, when I run PA in the debug panel it usually says that my GPU usage is less than one gb. That said, I don't play on maps with more than 3 planets often.

You're a Mac user, if I remember correctly, right? You should be able to see how much RAM is available to the OS in the Activity Monitor beneath the pie diagram in the System Memory tab. I think.

You remembered correctly. :) I keep forgetting that certain things exist, like activity monitor. Like the option to force local server in PA. I just ran an offline game with two medium planets and a small moon, lasted about 35 mins, ran very smoothly. Didn't drop below 40 fps a single time. :D I do have to mention that it was an arid and a lava planet, if it was tropical, it would have been less great. Shadows on trees are lag-emmiters.

edit: Man, PA uses a lot of electricity.
