Interstellar is now my favorite movie and has my favorite soundtrack. It even out-classes Halo . Just listen (Skip to 3:50, and 46:00 best part is around 4:15; XenForo doesn't like time stamped URLs)
Well John Williams is a god. But actually I was thinking exclusively about games. FTL, Guild Wars 2, PA, Portal 2 and it doesn't really count but all those sea shanties in Black Flag were great.
PA really does have such a great soundtrack, I also loved Portal 2's. Can't say I really remember any of the music from FTL and I never played Guild Wars 2. I think there always needs to be that sort of.. Song that you remembered, the whole soundtrack could be great but there's always that one that shines that you just notice when you play, it gets you hyped. Like the Halo Theme (Mjolnir Mix specifically.) the theme everyone knows from Halo that very sadly wasn't in Halo 4, if they don't bring it back in Halo 5 I will cry. :<
I know what you mean. GW2's soundtrack was done by Jeremy Soule, who's basically the Hans Zimmer of video games.
Oh it definitely sounds nice, I'll have to check out Guild Wars and see about getting it, what's the genre? Also randomish but with the new remastered Halo there's a remastered theme and... Man does it have a nice guitar solo, same guitarist from the original too! Steve Vai.
I thought we were discussing video game music ? Oh well. http://www.youtube.com/#/watch?v=i5Kwf_nNmGI
Eh, aside from that one Halo theme, I find a lot of the rest of the Halo music... okay, at best? This one was the standout for me though, with the buildup during that level. It has some pretty meh lulls, but I played that checkpoint so many times to do wicked sick jumps onto Scarabs with a 'hog. Whoever said Portal 2 was onto something, I just remember how it felt more cinematic and perfectly in line with the game's style more than nearly anything else I've played. Honestly ignore a lot of Fantasy games because they start to merge together, no matter how good. But REALLY, Supergiant Games. Listening on Youtube instead of in the game doesn't do justice to how fitting everything is.
