A video showcasing how playing with the minimap looks like. Notice how I specifically try to send a few units, especially vehicle scouts, everywhere so they get "enemy sighted" alerts that shows a black blinking dots on the minimap. I am definitely not very trained at using a minimap, but there is a huge potential for sure, I wish I could display all moving units directly, but even like this it's great. Personally I have no issues with distortion, I see a dot and can relate it to where it is based on the map knowledge I got from playing a few games. Also remember it does work with more than one planet if the system has one planet. So you can see blinking dots on multiple planets and jump there by clicking on the minimap.
That is awesome. Do you think it's possible to use the PIP generation as the background? The brown is kinda ugly tbh but I can see why it has to be like that. It's kinda bulging out and seems like it would be annoying, although I have not played with it so... A translucent gun-metal grey would also look pretty awesome
You can use whatever color you want for the dots really, I just though brown makes sense for land. Coloring the dots like the ground is: a) not trivial to do, the only way I can think of involved basically making a screenshot from an external program from every location of the map to get the color. Though I guess using that kind of setup would allow to have an actual terrain image. Dunno. Not easy to do. Not sure if it is worth the work. b) endangering to merge with other colors for other dot types. Though I can see that somebody with more artistic sense could probably make the minimap look better in relation to PA's general theme as well. I was focusing solely at usability.
Started using this today, Works really well. I just need to get ussed to having it there to help me better.
If anyone is playing bad it is me. also gg. I had planned to play no air, but somewhere at the end I lost it and build a few fighters
Wot. What is this Touhou music? I AM THE ONLY TOUHOU FAN [/ohnoit'sthatguy] Also, that minimap looks pretty cool. Quite a rough start, but it's promising. It should probably have something showing where your current view is as well as pertaining to direction, height, and angle. You know, like how SupCom did that weird square shaped thing to show the direction you were facing and how much of the screen you could see. That would be extremely helpful for people trying to orientate themselves while using it.
notice that name I am currently playing under. And yeah I'd LOVE to show more data like that, but without assembler wizardry level V I can't do it. And I am only level I so far and it's a rank 6 skill.
I totally did. xD I would have changed my name to something touhouish, but I am this name above all else. Unless Uber added some type of nickname thing above your actual name, then I'd be all over that. Haven't messed with the name thing at all, though. Ugh, I would let you use my detached sleeves* of +10% faster experience but it's untradable when equipped. Sorry, should have posted a few hours earlier. xD *User is not responsible for repercussions of stealing the precious thing.
so you were the no air guy i played yesterday, i was like this guy is mad. You lasted a while but i never felt even a little threatened, think thats the difference.
I made a bunch of mistakes in handling it though, too much aa actually. I think I should try to mix dox into my main army instead of aa vehicles, also to protect mex and similar aa turrets are actually much better than the mobile aa. Need to experiment, but I am not feeling that air is THAT imba tbh. Though no air factory at all definitely is overdoing it, I am now building a single factory to snipe stray bombers and air fabbers.
