And no, I don't outright suck, I am good now that I use dox meta, but I was using like normal tank expansion meta in 1v1 ranked at first, and was destroyed 6 times in a row.

I *think* the number of people in each group is roughly equalised. So if a bunch of people join the ladder, but aren't as good as you, they can bump you up.

Edit: You're actual rank won't change, but your rank may now fall into a different tier.

That seems true. We have had a lot of new people finish their five ranked games in the last week or so.
