I need to vent after a nice 2 hour long game that ended in a complete crash of the server, not just a disconnect of the players where we could log back in.

What started as 2v2v2 on the Pax system came down to the last two commanders each with two planets: Me and my ally with Prime and the Gas giant, and our enemy with the Lava and Metal planets.

The moon had been expended against the metal planet on the second attempt to Halley it into his commander/the laser spots, the first time their armies managed to destroy the Halleys in time.

We were battered by absolutely ridiculous waves of Dox that only abated once we established rock-solid control of the air and orbitals on Prime, and a heaping helping of nukes to the enemy's spammy factories. Modest raids of space fighters against the Gas planet kept me on my toes.

I countered with Astreus-dropped raids of Slammers, but eventually noticed that their fighter screen was too strong and was eating the dropships before they could deposit the bots. I eventually escalated to all-out invasions with a hundred fighters and a bunch of orbital fabbers to create a 'safe zone' of Anchors first to deploy my armies to both his planets at once...

And then the server died under the load. No replay, no ability to log back into the game, just crashed.

    Dammit!

I am out of crystal balls currently, but usually server crashes are automatically reported to Uber, so no need to do anything

Most of the time, when I've had a server crash, I've not seen a replay afterwards either

That is normal. The replay is written by the server into a file once the game has ended. If the server crashes it won't do that.
